Backpay still at payment center

Hi, everyone, hope you all had a great of 4th July. I recieved a notice from SSI breaking down amounts of back pay that I recieved. They paid me some backpay for this year too, I hope I don't have to pay it back due to I didnt think I would qualify due to husbands earnings. But they seen and copied all of hubby's income, so they know what they're doing, but still wonder, I even told them I don't think I will qualify for any, just mayb in the begining in 2006

I still haven't recieved Benefit letter showing amounts of monthly/backpay. My local office said they can't tell me because it's still at payment processing center.
I asked for a number so I can call the payment place and they said they didn't have one.

Does anyone know if I can call the payment processing center and what their number is? or any other number so I can get new information.

my local office told me they only handle SSI claims.

Thanks

please let me know when you get it. I have been waiting for my backpay since I received my approval letter on 5/28. According to my local ssa office the backpay claim arrived at the payment center on 6/8/10.

Colbeymoore, I too recieved my approval letter on May 28,2010. Judge officially approved on May 13,2010. I havn't recieved anything regarding my SSDI, no Medicare, nothing. I'm like having doubts now, I re-read my approval letter to make sure, It's approved from filing date July 2006.

Did you recieve any SSI backpay?, maybe this is whats holding my SSD backpay?, I hope we get it soon.

We got approved around the same time. Let me know when you receive yours too! I'm still wondering how much I will get.

Oh, one more question, have you received your benefit letter or monthly check yet?

Thanks

I got approved right around the same time you guys did. I am getting my monthly check, but didn't get my backpay. I call the 800# and they say by the end of July.

I had everything setup for direct deposit. I called local office and all they could say is that it is at the central office. I received a backpay check for me which has now gone to repayment to my LTD carrier.
Now I was told I should be getting backpay for my 4 children. I called my local office and again no new just that the central office received my kids claim for payment on 6/8/10 so I am waiting for their check.

I hope you guys receive your payments soon. I was approved on March 26. after a March 10 ALJ hearing. and I didn't get my first SSDI Payment until June. And my first SSI Payment July 1st. I just went to my local office yesterday and they put in for my first installment of my backpay yesterday after paying the state/my lawyer.

Go down to your local SS office. You need to talk to some one face to face. If necessary, ask for a supervisor politely if the representative is of no assistance.
If you are unable to physically go to your local SS office AND since you have access to a computer, look up the "DIRECTOR" of your local SS office. Write a detailed SNAIL MAIL letter to the director & mail it CERTIFIED. The letter should include the dates & names of all the people you spoke w/over the phone.
When dealing w/SS, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING (CYA)!!!!!

GOOD LUCK! You're gonna need it.

It's best to start a new thread...

http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10084.pdf

"Online my Social Security account
Social Security has an easy-to-access, easy-to-use
web portal for some personalized online services. At
my Social Security, you can create an account if
you are age 18 or older, have a Social Security number
and have valid E-mail and U.S. mail addresses. Go to
www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount and provide some
personal information to verify your identity. Then choose a
username and password to complete creating your account.
You can use your my Social Security account to access
your Social Security Statement to check your earnings
and get your benefit estimates. If you receive benefits, you
also can:
• Get your benefit verification letter;
• Change your address and phone number; and
• Start or change your direct deposit."

If you haven't signed up for an online account, that might be helpful.

I believe you mean SSDI benefits not SSI, since SSI does not have Survivor Benefits.

If you can't get a time frame for your first payment from a rep at your local SS field office, you might insist on speaking with a Supervisor. If you are in danger of eviction or having utilities shut off, you can make a Dire Need request to speed things up. If your son's father has other children it might be taking longer for the Payment Center to confirm how the benefit needs to be divided.

One last option is to contact your local Congress person or Senator and request help from his or her staff.
