EEG and MRI update
 

Won't have the results until I return to neurologist next week but the test were horrible! The flashing lights for the EEG were rough. The sound with the MRI made me dizzy, nauseated and weak all day.

Those flashing light ARE miserable. They are intended to try to trigger seizure activity. For someone with PCS, they are just extremely annoying and overwhelming.

My EEG's never had any conclusive results.

Now, go relax and recover. For me, it would take a few days to recover from the mental stress of an EEG and the noise of a MRI. It think a MRI is as close to the sensations of a migraine that people who never have migraines can get.

Get that jack hammer out of my head!!!

I wish that I knew about the lights during the EEG, I had that done a few weeks ago and it was brutal.

My results showed some slow patterns like someone with seizures, even though I don't have seizures.

Not very comforting when your neurologist says, its to be expected with what you are going through, but don't worry about it.
I have no idea what that is supposed to mean!

I think that it would be really nice if they prepared you a little more, I would have had my headache meds ready to go once I was finished.

It sounds like your neuro could have just as easily said your EEG results were inconclusive like mine did. Unless there is defined seizure activity, the neuro's don't know what to make of the waveforms. Keep in mind that they are just looking at the 'very general' waveforms. They do not get into the minute detain that is available with more leads and computer analysis such as a qEEG.

When all they are looking for is seizure activity, that is all that they can comment on. PCS may cause some odd waveforms but true seizure activity is rare. Even people with true seizure problems will have a normal EEG half of the time.

So, what value is an EEG? Maybe it is used to placate patients into a 'nothing is wrong' placebo oriented response.

I tried lens therapy...thinking bout going back for more treatments...lady said I had slowing...I only went like twice and I have heard you need to go more than that to see benefit....

I asked her if her mapping was similar to qeeg and she said kind of....like a qeeg is a picasso and what she maps is more like paint by numbers...but she most certainly seemed to think lens helps as she is a head injury survivor herself.

I never had a qeeg, eeg was normal...

If she is recommending LENS for concussion, she is violating FDA Regulations and likely just after your money.

Her map is like paint by numbers with just three colors of paint. She likely learned her skills at a weekend seminar.

Len Ochs of Ochs Labs has yet to publish any of his research data supporting LENS. He once has some articles on his web site but has since removed them. He routinely refers to a book supporting his product written by a man (Stephen Larsen) who just did a bit of research and authored a book to sell. It is not peer reviewed nor is it scientifically based. Lots of hype and unfounded claims.

LENS is only to be used for non-medical issues, such a relaxation therapies.

Save your money. You will have a better chance with volitional neuro-feedback. With it, you are taught how to modify though and concentration to increase some brain functions and decrease other brain functions. It is commonly used to help reduce the symptoms of ADHD. It usually starts with a full qEEG to identify brain dysfunctions.

She wasnt charging me for the sessions...she said that if after six treatments I saw an improvement then I would have to pay, but I only went twice because I had to watch my friend's dogs for two weeks.

Let me know what you think...I mean I am open to anything that may help at this point....I know I had more than the regular concussion or at least I feel that way as I am really messed up all the time...
