uh....hi?

I don't know how to explain exactly why I'm here, I'm not really sure actually, but I'll do my best.

I'm 17 and in the middle of one of the hardest and most confusing parts of my life. It's a long story, but the shortened version is recently I was told the story of when I was 3 months old my dad threw me. 3 day coma, skull fracture, blood transfusion, almost a month in the hospital, anti-seizure medicine for months.....anyway the reason I was even told this (by my mom) was because my eye doctor noticed that I have barely any right peripheral vision. I guess the reason I'm here is I want to learn if that affected me in more ways than just my vision.

If you're wondering, yes I still live with my dad. I won't rant about that on here, that's what PsychCentral is for lol :p I'll answer any questions about it though :)

I will, as soon as I have time lol :p
I know vision is related to that, I'm trying to figure out what else could be caused by it.

Welcome to NT

You're going to love the people here. We do care about you.

Sorry you're having to figure these things out so young. :grouphug:

You seem to be very strong-minded, perhaps from your experiences.

Those are tough lessons on life. Lessons to learn from and do the best you can with your life, the life ahead of you.

Adulthood is challenging; so is being a teenager. It's about mastering some life skills that enable us to make the right decisions every time, which is hard to do, for all of us.

What you do today will be your past tomorrow.

Let's try not to waste our time on things we have no control over. Find some peace in the day. Be true to yourself and you will be okay.

In a way it doesn't really feel like I'm just now figuring this stuff out, I've always had this feeling like something happened when I was very young, and over the past few years I was was really trying to figure it out. Atleast now I don't have to wonder what happened. Although its not something I really wanted to know. :holysheep:

sorry for your troubles,

I had a concussion a year ago and am still dealing with effects.....fatigue, headaches, spaced out, slow mental processing, noise and light sensitive, ear ringing, cant exercise....its terrible and I just dont feel like myself anymore...

maybe because your injury occurred when you were younger you didnt notice some of the other effects....vision is obvious...some of the others are more subtle, but maybe vision is your only problem....if you are productive and can work and study I wouldnt worry....for more info just google TBI symptoms...gluck

i'm glad you found NT.
there's a lot to figure out about life and when you're 17 it's not easy.
look around the forums here. i'm sure you'll find one that fits.

do your drs know about your childhood hx? that may be a piece of information they need to assess your current problems.

we're here for you.
welcome

It's clear to me that you are a strong young person. It's great that you're looking for support -- shows a lot about someone at your age. Proof that you can overcome.

As I'm sure you're already aware, physical trauma seems to intensify and show it's horns the older we get. Good thing you're taking action now.

As for the Psychological effects -- thank God for resources that help those of us with tough pasts to keep our sanity in track!;)

I'm new to this site and have found that people are genuinely caring. What a relief!

Good luck with your situation and I hope that you find the answers you are looking for!

no, one eye doctor asked if there was any past head trauma, my mom lied and said no. That was before she told me so I couldn't tell the doctors myself.
And I don't currently see any doctors because of it (or at all lol) just the yearly eye appointment and then 2 other eye doctors they sent me to.
