I completely agree, and think we really need to look at sources of supplements we take, both as to completeness, and where they get it from.
Jarrow, for example, is THE only manufacturer I found that does not derive its vitamin E from soy. There are so many supplements out there that are derived from soy, I think that is very unhealthy. One would never eat that much soy naturally, plus the way they process that soy, I have read hexane is frequently used which is a neurotoxin if I'm not mistaken.
This is news, but not really....remember lutein, the wonder antioxidant in tomatoes, watermelons, and other produce? People rushed out and bought tons of lutein, only to discover, a year or so later, that in pill form, lutein does next to nothing. It it the combination of the lutein in the tomato, watermelon, etc., that makes it effective. There are other examples but you get the point.
We have been trying to get only food-based supplements like megafoods and new chapter organics...you still have to watch those brands, though, to avoid too much soy. There are also others, of course. Best food/ natural source of Vitamin E? Raw wheat germ, sprinkle it on yogurt, in smoothies, cereal....you can also get wheat germ oil and use it in salad dressing dressings (don't cook with it, I think that destroys the benefits).
