Spider bite,

I was bit by a spider 3 weeks ago. And it has left a hole in my leg about the size of a pencil eraser. I was suppose to see my doctor today, because it is still swollen, and feels like a bee sting when touched.
Anyways, my doctors office called, and had to cancel, as they had some kind of Chemical spill in the building, and had to cancel all appointments. She ordered a strong antibiotic.
So, I feel like I must tell ya all, please be careful out there, even those stupid spiders can cause problems.
I mean, it's been 3 weeks, and I still am getting random intense stinging in there. It use to take my breath way when it happened, so it is getting better.

P.S. it was a brown spider. But I don't know for certain what kind. I was in an area of the country that have the brown recluse, but I don't believe I was bitten when I was there, or it was that I brought one back with me.

Lizzie, Well, that's not very neighborly of that spider! Have they no manners?

I thought this was interesting:

The stinging made me think of MRSA. I hope they will culture the area because it's the only way to tell for sure. There have been cases of people getting MRSA and the flesh-eating crap from just being outside and not from bugs.

I hope it gets better and they don't have to do debridement.

Thank you, yeah, that's what they were going to do today, but we're pretty certain it was a spider, as
about the same time, we had tons of spiders, and I had several on me through out the day on saturday. We bought spider spray, and heavily sprayed. I remember feeling like something was crawling on me, but again, I have that feeling from nerve damage, and don't look every time. I also remember something bit me, but thought it was a skeeter. It was my daughter who first saw the one, and scream, pointing at it. and then I saw another, and another.
It wasn't the same kind either, so I really can't pin point which. The Antibiotic she gave me, covers mrsa as well, just in case.
Thank you for the link, I actually read that earlier today. :)

P.S. the spiders were out on our deck. We get huge ones out there.

We use "natural"pest control around the outside of the house and it works really well. Diatomaceous earth is good around the base of the house. We use boric acid on the window wells and sills (outside), which has almost taken care of our little earwig problem. Pets and kids can't get into either of those and you have to wear gloves and a mask while applying them, just in case.

Bay leafs work great for spiders (indoors by the windows). Catnip, and I've heard lots of other things like Listerine, for mosquitoes. We hang catnip bags by our doors!!!

I'm really into all of these natural alternatives. I hope you can decrease the amount of pests near the house. ;)

I'm glad your docs take such good care of you.

You know, I don't remember the name of it, but the spray we got was natural, didn't work as well as the name brand usual stuff, but it made me feel better about being around it. We all have allergies here, and we don't want to take any chances for us, or our dogs. And it worked pretty well, not perfect, but enough for us to notice.
Glad to hear of others being green as well.
Love Lizzie
