My husband was approved for ssdi and is waiting for his lump sum back pay. He recieved his monthly check.Our daughters were also approved under my husband and received thier lump sum. Does their money change his back pay amount and the time it takes for him to get it?

Hi! No, his the backpay is not affected by the kid's backpay. It may take several months to receive the backpay. I have been waiting since May 24th. I called SSDI and they told me 30 days, then 45 days, then 60 days and I expect the next time i call it will be 90 days.

I know this is probably not want you want to hear but you have to be patient. Each person is different. I won last June 24th and did not get my backpay until 4 months later. My brother in law won his case this February and got his backpay within a month. It really depends on the state you are in. The backlogs they face. And if you have anything that they may have to deduct out of the backpay. Hang in there it will come!

Yup, it's frustrating waiting game. I got mine before I got my benefits letter and started my monthly checks. If you don't get it within 3 months, I'd call......otherwise, it's just waiting.

I got my kid's backpay really quickly, but I am waiting on my own backpay.

CANM I ASK HOW LONG AFTER SSDI APPROVAL HE GOT HIS FIRST CHECK?AND HOW MUCH WAS THE KIDS BACKPAY,BECAUSE IM WAITING FOR THE SAMRE THING AND AM FRUSTRATED,APPROVED IN JULY FOR SSDI AND SSI,I GOT THE SSI CHECK AND BACKPAY,BUT NOTHING OF THE SSDI YET:mad:

wont change the amount and 30-90 days. Figuring the number holders back pay takes longer due to other factors, not other recipients on the record
