More pain!!!

I have not posted here for a while, I have SFPN and it seems to be taking over my body. I had an appointment with a neuroligist on the 5th of July and he told me PN was quite common, (I knew that from being on this forum) and said that a cause may not be found (I knew that too) but upon saying that he ordered more blood tests including an ANA. I saw my own doctor last Friday and he checked for my blood test results but all he told me was that my ANA was high. He also said he was happy for me to increase the neurontin I am taking for the pain, I have done this. But this week as soon as I start to do something around the house or go shopping I get terrible leg pain,:thud: I have had pain in my legs before but now it is getting worse an I do not know what to do for the pain. I ended up taking Valium last night so I could get to sleep and I can no longer have my afternoon nap because of the pain. It is winter over here so I sit with a blanket over my legs and I have just brought an electric throw rug and it does seem to help a little bit. Does any one else have bad leg pain and what do you do for it. I go back to the neuroligist on the 26th July, so am hoping for some answers and maybe the cause for my SFPN. If nothing shows I feel he will send me home with this pain and left to deal with it on my own.
Any help would be appreciated.:circlelove:

Hi Lesley
I am so sorry your pain has progressed,I too had leg pain progressing higher up the leg and at that point my G P sent me to a Pain Management Clinic and that is where I have had most help. Why don't you ask for this referral?Just a thought have you tried Chilli Pepper cream,it has a warming effect on application and takes the pain away long enough for me to fall asleep.
Hope you feel better soon and again good luck on 26th.
Arlene

Sometimes TENS treatments help, with specific areas of pain.
Check with your doc. Home units are available, for self treatment - at reasonable prices.

I have leg pain that is horrid. Well it is inner ankle/foot/calf of both legs. For me right now it is about meds and the right amount of activity where it is not too much and not too little. In a flare up where it gets worse though it is about waiting for the time to pass. Do you see a pain doctor? I agree with the other poster that they can help with pain treatment through meds and other treatments. I would ask the neuro about a referal or look for one on your own. I can't tolerate tens cause a finger even increases my pain but some people find it helpful. Though obviously it is not going to take the pain away to relax a bath and some find epsom salt to relax. I wish I had more answers for you and relief. Could you see if your neuro can see you earlier?

Thank you all for you throughts, I had not thought about using the chilli cream all over my legs I had been using it on my thighs, so I am rubbing it in all over now. I have also increased my neurontin by taking more at lunch time it seems to be helping by doing that. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow so I will talk to him. And yes I need to learn when enough is enough and when to stop.
