OT Maybe - I need help - ref child

I have a 8 almost 9 year old girl. She has acted normal till last week when I said we were going to Walmart to shop. She said no she would not go. At first she said this was due to he using the mens bathroom in the store (in another store location) while in the custody of her father. She said she was embarrassed store workers would remember her. She stated a man came in to the bathroom as she was leaving, but nothing happened nor did she see anything.... I called her father and he said there was nothing to it and this was several months back. I told my girl we were going to the store near me and there would be dif. people working there. Still a no from her. I have said everything I can think of and I still can't get her to agree to go to this store. I do need to go there with her. I thought I had convinced her to go when we talked about the clothing and food being on the other side of the store from the bathroom. We were to go Friday, but I was in bed ill. When I got up she asked if we were going to the W store. I said no as I was ill. She stated she had worried all morning about this. Now she is back to refusing to go. The only hint I have that something might (direct from her) have happened is she stated she had told me almost all of what happened. Then she went back to she had told me all. This is a child who has been through the entire US DSS deal a couple of years ago and will never say anything that would put her back there. It seems there was no abuse then, but DSS put her through heck and back. What do I do here. Do you all think there was something improper that went on - if not why is she so scared.

I'm sorry that I don't have the answers that you seek, but I wonder if more people might see your post if it was in the Children's Forum as well.

With that in mind I've copied your post over there and provided a link for you so you can check to see if you receive any answers. Here's the link, and I hope things work out soon for you and your daughter.
