hydrocephalus symptoms older child
Has anyone dealt with your older child having symptoms from Hydrocephalus? Our daughter is 9 and when she was an infant, she had mild hydrocephalus. We are going to see our neurologist and genetist next month. Just curious what symptoms your child had? Thank you a bunch!!

The main symptoms are headaches, sunsetting of the eyes (not able to raise the lids) nausea/vomiting (without fever)....most are sort of the same for everything, but the sunsetting is the obvious one you can point to. Also, nystagmis (shaking of the eyes). It is caused by pressure on the optical nerve in the brain. Our son had a slight case- especially when he tried to look to the side- and as the pressure got worse, he got vertigo. Good luck at your appt. I would def. get a ct scan. A lot of drs. talk about not wanting to do it because of the exposure to radiation, but the exposure is so small, and we're talking about my kids brain.

symptoms
I may not be a parent of an older child but my last revision was when I was 9 and I hope that this may help. It started out with a headache that had increased sensitivity from day 1 to day 3 next a high fever that made me think I wet my bed but it was soaked due to the fever, crying due to the fact that the pain would not go away and when I went to the hospital I puked a lot before my ct scan. I hope that this will help but those are only the ones I experienced. They will vary from person to person. Good Luck
