New Poster and Facet Blocks

Hi! I just joined today. I have had issues regarding my back for over twenty years, including 2 surgeries with instrumentation. Half my back has metal in it for support. I have had scores of epidurals, facet blocks and radiofrequency. The other day I had a facet block at T12-L1. I have pedicle screws in this area and when the anesthesiologist injected the area with steroids/lidocaine I had extreme pain radiating down my spine and right flank. I have had alot of pain over the years but this felt like someone poored acid over a bundle of nerve endings. I had residual pain going down my right flank for 3 days. Is this normal? I have had these before but I have never had a reaction like this before. After the procedure the anesthesiologist placated me and I got the feeling she thought I was overreacting re: the pain. On a scale of 1-10 the pain was a "100"

Hi Kevin and welcome to NeuroTalk :)

do also take a look thru our other boards here to see if there is maybe one where the members have issues similar to what you are dealing with so that you can get the best support from them

So sorry to hear of your intense pain and sure hope things will get better

we look forward to getting to know you

Thanks for your reply. I'm trying to become more familiar with this message board. More difficult to use than most. Thanks!
