Help... Before I sweat to death...Literally!

Hi...My name is Kayleen! I have a severe problem with excessive sweating. Not just sweaty palms and feet........all over!

I don't even have to be hot to be sweating! I can be in a perfectly cool room where no one else is sweating.........I can just be sitting and I begin to sweat so bad that my clothes become soaked......as well as my hair.......and the sweat will actually drip off my forehead! It is uncomfortable to say the least....but it is sooo embarassing! Especially when it happens in church! I teach the Pre - K class and when the parents either drop them off or pick them up it is embarassing to be sweating when none of my other co-teachers r!

The other day I was at the mall....it was totally cool......I was standing looking at a rack of clothes and I began to sweat so bad that my hair and shirt were soaked!

I have hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and I take meds 4 that......my levels r fine. They have checked and rechecked my hormones and I am not perimenopausal or menopausal.

I take 1 psych med that says I need to limit my exposure to the sun......it can cause severe sunburn and make me more suceptible to heat exhaustion/stroke. I am never out in the sun! I only go from the house to the car to the chiurch, etc!

This even happens in the winter! When I am in places where there is no heat on and I have short sleeve shirts on! When I take a shower, I get out and 5 or 10 minutes later it is like I never took one........I am sweating to death!

Any suggestions? Right now as I type this I am in the car on the way to the Cleveland Clinic to see an endocrinologist. I need some answers. I can't live like this!

Thanks! I will let u know how the appt. goes!

I'm just picking at straws here ~ Have you checked to see if any of your meds cause increased sweating? Some meds do, as I've found out myself. It can be pretty darned annoying, as you well know!!! :o Perhaps your pharmacist can print out a sheet of side effects you can expect with each drug you're taking. I usually get one when I start taking a new drug.

Like I said, I'm picking at straws. I can't think for the life of me what would cause this, as you've already had checked, the things I would have suggested.

I sure wish i could help. Best of luck, and God bless. hugs, Lee

Can I suggest? tho know docs don't always comply?

Asking for a complete metabolic test? [CMB]... There just be one little thing missing in your whole system [and the metabolism is one complicated creature] that could help things get into balance. GET A COPY ! You can learn from it a lot! Web up B-12 deficiency side effects and also thyroid deficiency s/e's as well. That is but one possible cause? Also go and look up the s/e's from each of your meds....sometimes taking some meds too close together or too many can cancel the best effects of one or more. No More Gulping down the whole shebang at once in the AM and PM? Even supplements can affect, alter or change the effectiveness of any one thing taken. We pay too much for this all to simply go out the window with no help to us!
I too have Hashi's, and it is always full of surprises! But, double whammy if you are going thru or just post menopause!
But, if it's thyroid? THAT is sure one of the easier things to fix! Trick is getting your t-meds 'just rite'.
I'm still sweating on/off? But that is due to post cancer meds...they're another trip to outer space and a half! My meds are estrogen blockers and the things THEY DO? You don't wanna know about! Keep faith in what you know that is wrong about YOU! Learn to be more careful and articulate about what is wrong or right? Then keep persuing help! If docs write you off? GET second opinions or more! IF you can afford it and/or your insurance allows it! It could save your life. It did mine.
Hugs and help - just ask! - j :hug::hug::hug:!'s

I have this condition at night It is perplexing

But oddly both my mother in law and my own mother started to have
heat type flashes and both of them had gone thru menopause 20 years
before

So perhaps their is something new, environmental that might be
inducing these new forms of symptoms

Perhaps the wireless technology's of non-ionizing energy/radiation
that is now indulated our environments is not as healthly for us as
they wold lead us to believe

Hope your endocrinologist sheds some light on this

Do check in with your GP and/or endo?

Get the bloodwork done up and go from there. Best to get it all checked out and have a handle on it? Even if there's nothing to be done for it.

On thing folks going thru the cancer endocrine withdrawls and post-meno folks use are something called 'Chillows'. Many tout them, I don't know-I've not gotten that bad yet. This is one active web site I'd found: http://www.thenaturalstore.com/produ...chillow_pillow
Me? I use a small dish towell or wash cloth moistened and it cools as it evaporates, if I get too hot? I wave it a few times in the air and all is well. It's usually dried out by morning.
But first, please, get your bloodwork done and a full workup will be likely....prepare to be vampirized. It's nothing to fret over if you have a good tech drawing the blood tho. Just sort of amazing.

Let us know how things work out!:hug:'s - j

Yes blook work absolutely
But I am hearing that endo's should also have
lab do a FED rate concerning our blood because that test helps
lead to more answers concerning these phenomena symptoms many
women (and men) are experiencing that their seems to be no rational for
Also have your white cell count checked

increased levels of sweat

This is another comment that is just clutching at straws, but have you increased your levels of exercise recently? This can cause an increase in the amount that you sweat as your body becomes more efficient at cooling you down. When this first happens the hormones can be all over the polace and this can happen sporadically. Its just a thought.

Side effects of meds have increased 10 fold over the last decade
Too many meds nowadays are showing quite an increase of side
effects Sweating could be a viable side effect of a med It even has the
capacity to be a side effect of a med we buy off the shelve

Heck their are meds nowadays that add IF ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY
HAS A HISTORY OF SUICIDE to their list of under the CAUTION banner

When they add something like that, it tells me they know far more than
they are telling us concerning pharmacueticals that interact with
our DNA It is reaching a point of BUYER BEWARE kind of sticker
on too pharmacueticals nowadays

It is a common sense grasp to me But the fact is sweating is
not limited to just one category of a why That door is wide open

We live in a new frontier of it's even possible that the environment
is having some form of impact on our systems Buts thats just my opinion

Thanks 4 all the suggestions! Very helpful stuff to chew over! I saw the endocrinologist and they ran 3 blood tests......I have no clue what they were....I will go back to my profile on the Cleveland Clinic's website and look at them again. They were not routine stuff.........stuff I have never heard of!

All of them were normal......the endo did not know what to tell me. They suggested that I schedule an appointment with an internist.......who will do a more thorough, broad assesment. I go to the Cleveland Clinic 4 this on Friday.....October 15. It has taken almost 2 months 2 get an appointment!

The docs nurse called and took a very detailed history. She said that my appointment will last 1 hour.........am praying 4 answers!

The only med I am on that has any heat related side effect is Seroquel......it just says to not stay in the sun 4 prolonged periods of time without sunscreen. It also increases your risk 4 heat stroke.

Will keep u posted! Kayleen

I too have always had horried sweats but, surgically, been through menopause. My dr suggested halving all meds that could be taken in two doses A.M. and then P.M. That helped immensely as one antidepressant could cause sweating. Hope this helps!
