Sketcher Shapeups- bad for health

I have tried to find this video but can't. It was on Fox News yesterday on their health segment.

The Dr. on there said that he feels that these shoes are dangerous for you pelvic and spine. He says they rock back and forth and your pelvic area and spine rocks with them therefore causing problems. He also said they were too high and he has seen people with knee injuries from falling in them. I felt like I was wearing hills in them.

He says there has been no studies done besides the ones the company has done on their own with who they wanted to do them with.

I bought a pair back in May and actually resold them after wearing them about a month. They were way too heavy for me and just seemed to make my problems much worse. They actually made my pelvic pain and leg pain worse. I have Fibro also and I don't think they worked for it.

Any thought on these. I still like my New Balance and will most likely get a new pair this winter.

I remember either seeing this report or reading an article about these shoes. The concern was that they are not a stable base for the foot and therefore cause the other muscles in the leg and rear end to do more work to create the stabilization. Personally I am afraid to use them because my bones are not in good condition from this disease. Ada, I think that you are on to something here. Lisa

I tried some on at the store and just did not feel safe or secure in them.

There was another brand with a similar style that felt much better and was 10 bucks cheaper, but I still decided it wasn't worth the money.
Plus out in the country it just isn't feasible to wear that kind of shoe - unless you want a sprained ankle.:(

went with another pair of Asics Gel
