New to tos : what can i do ? :'(

what do i have exactly ?

I have felt pain on my hand sometimes at work (i am an accouting student) and thinked it was nothing more than fatigue.

In december it was more painful so i went on the doctor :
He say it was a postural problem because my hand was like red - violet and then he make my shoulder go in a good position and the symptome improve in the same time.

He say it was just a postural problem, but some symptom still persist  and no not improve with time so i checked the internet and knew i had TOS

Confirmed by an doppler exam with sound, he say it was a TOS maybe du to fibrous band somewere from postural cause... I have some

Sometimes i heard a pulstaile tinnutus. And sometimes a big noise like "TCHIK" in my head or ears when i move after a long period of sleeping in the same position. I have now some tingling in my hand (only) and pain when i use computer like typing.

Im only 20. What can i do now ?

Did the doctor who diagnosed you discuss any next steps? Common things to start are Physical Therapy with someone who is experienced with TOS, efforts to improve posture, reducing the amount of time you spend at the computer, typing, etc. (really any arm forward movements if they bother you). If those things do not help, you will need to move on to more aggressive actions.

Good luck,
Kelly

He say i need to strengthening trapez and shoulder, straightening and send me to a therapist.

loosing the pulse when arms are up or out can be a part of TOS, but some people without TOS have the same thing happen, so that alone is not always proof of TOS.

I bumped some other good info posts up to the top of the list, look for those a swell as the sticky threads up above the main list here. look for the green circle icon w/ arrow to find sticky threads.

the pulstaile tinnitus is probably a bruit - the pulse sound is louder because of the scalenes or SCM muscles in the neck are kind of squeezing the artery. I had it and it was very bothersome, used to keep me awake as I'm a light sleeper.

but after good PT & chiropractor care all that is mostly gone unless I do something to strain my neck muscles, and now I know how to get rid of it myself for the most part.

A very good PT is best and no beginners:eek: - make sure you get one that will listen to you and not push you to go to fast.

It takes time and listening to your body to make the small changes for best improvement.

Also rest and relaxation - give body time to heal without the stress of hand/arm uses.

also -
drink lots of water/clear fluids, deep breathing, posture

Second question when i play badmingnton for like 2 hours i have no symptome for a long moment until a make repeatiting thing, is it good ?

Jomar 08-11-2010 11:11 AM

If you can play badminton without symptoms increasing, go ahead and do it - because it has a variety of movements it is good for your range of motion.

I can still do many activities without any problem, but if I sit at computer or hold a book to read for too long then I pay the price.

Badmington remove my symptomes but temporally.

Hi

Welcome to NT/TOS forum, lil buddy.

Oh, you'll find lots of info and support here.

I have been living with TOS for almost 10 looooonnnnggggg years now. Not a happy anniversary date, either.

Sorry you're having these problems. Jo*mar has already told you things that I would also want you to know.

Each person is different but yet I can identify. You do have to stop and listen for a minute, to your own body.

I also will tell you to inhale water, like a FISH  It's good for you.

I have so much to be thankful for. I have much improvement, but the journey to this point has not been fun or easy... or cheap.

We do understand here. :grouphug:

Look around this forum at our Avatars (at the left "brown eyed girl" on this post, with a picture/Avatar) and then click on "FIND ALL POSTS" (at about two o'clock) .

You can browse from the first, last posts.

Interesting sound effects.

I get two sound effects besides bones popping.

Sometimes when I turn my head suddenly the sound is like a neural whip. This is accompanied by pain 11 on the 10 scale. I practice moving slowly. I had this even before TOS starting as a teenager. Still have it.

The other is the sound of bee bees dropping very fast. This one does not hurt but I feel it like a creaking.
