Lesions

Can anyone lead me to perhaps old post regarding RSD lesions? I have a red bump that appeared on my ankle area this weekend (one of my worst areas) . I do not want to jump the gun, but it does not itch or even look like a bite of any sort, so I was wondering how lesions start in the beginning-just to keep on the look out. Any info would be appreciated. Fondly-Carol

Hi Carol, I think you can go to Search and type in Lesions and get the information you want. I've had two lesions, and they started out larger than a red dot. It got infected and was a long time and extremely painful to keep it clean and eventually get rid of the lesion-infection. My Dr. had me sit in warm water every few hours to bring the infection to the top and keep it clean. It's like an open sore. It was on back of leg, so my husband would keep it clean with q-tip. My Dr. said to keep it dry-not to cover it with band-aid and salve. That would prolong the sore, but keeping it dry was better. Hope this helps. Let us know how you are doing. Your friend, loretta

Carol, My lesions come up when my burning is bad- I get one or a few at a time. They first come up as small red areas that turn out looking like cigarette burns(same size a cigarette). Kind of blister, than open and burn. Went to dermatologist and got a cream to help heal them faster. Mine come and go. Some have left pink scars. momof4

I think that in addition to whatever skin lesions that are directly attributable to RSD, with the the trophic skin changes that sometimes occur in varying degrees, those changes can open the door for secondary and opportunistic infections, lesions, bumps and things that are not otherwise well described in the literature and wouldn't otherwise be something that we would have had to deal with absent RSD. Just my humble opinion....
