I finally have to accept the PN
 

Long story short I have been DX for 6 years with RSD and PN due to nerve damage from a serious accident. So for the 6 years I just really concentrated on the RSD and I just ignored the PN. Why, just to much I quess. I no that sounds crazy but yesterday I saw my PM doc and we had a conversation on PN. What prompted this talk was I have been suffering so much with pain from the humidity this summer I can't take it anymore.

So after 6 years I am welcoming any advise, treatments PN patients use, doctors in NYC or NJ, CT that are good with PN, meds that work etc. I know you all think I'm crazy I'm not just denial.

He wants to try a series of 3 Stellate Ganglion Blocks, which I had in the beginning and they helped with the RSD but not the PN. But he is doing it with ultral sound guidance which is a first for me. Prior I had them done with flouroscopy guidance. So I'll try it...Again any advise is welcomed good or bad..

In NYC - Cornell-Weill has a neuropathy dept that is one of the best.
About 3 hrs down the road in Baltimore, same goes for Johns Hopkins.

My ortho and pain doctors are right acroos the street at HSS. When you say John Hopkins are you speaking of Dr. Dellon?

Absolutely not! His surgical procedure is for diabetic compressive nerve release. He's franchised it all over the country. He started at JHH, but I'm not sure if he still is on the faculty. If he is, (he wasn't, at one time) he's not practicing full time. too busy making $$ millions.

Dr Griffin, is my doc. I'm speaking about the neuro dept- that specializes in PN & diagnostic testing procedures. One of the best neuro depts, in the world.

if my wife would have listened to the two hot shot orthos at HSS , Hospital for Special Surgery in manhattan, she would not have a leg today, what they told her was absolutely the wrong thing to do as we found out. She got a few more opinions and the last one at hospital for joint disease in manhattan Dr. Feldman saved her leg. this doesnt help you with your neuro search but shows that you have to be your own advocate and research what they are doing especially if it involves surgery. Cornell Weill has top notch PN neuros in NYC.

I hate to inject negativity into this discussion and my experience does not mean everyone who goes to Cornell-Weill will be as disappointed as I, but I am heading down to JH as soon as Dr. Griffin can see me. I have related on other posts about the dismissive and uncaring attitude of the docs @ Cornell.

But Gabbycakes you may find them to be great. At least they're nearby.

Thanks for everyones input. I will say I am shocked to here the disappointment in HSS. I have had so many surgeries, procedures and yes some are better then others and all there echos are beyond believe at times but I was just dealt with in such a respected manner each and every time. I am sorry some have had a bad experience.

Thanks for the recommendation to Dr. Griffin and the warning about Dr. Dellon. I kind of got a very strange vibe when I spoke with Dr. Dellon's office and did some emailing with questions.
