Trazadone?
My primary care physician just prescribed a low dose of trazadone for me to help with insomnia. I have been taking ambien for almost four years, but it is not helping me at all. I thought that when I started taking tizandine that I would sleep better, especially when taking it with ambien, but I still am only sleeping off and on for a few hours most nights.
Has anyone had any experience with trazadone. I am not sure what dosage I will be starting at. I think they may be 50 mg. The nurse told me to take 1/2 of a pill and to see it that helped. Then, I can gradually increase the dosage up to 3 pills. I should just see what works for me. |
my husband takes it and it works great for him. he takes 2 pills at night, but sometimes when he wakes at 4 and cant stop his racing brain, he takes another one.
The pharmacist said its a very popular drug for sleep aid, and works well on most folks. |
I take a 50 mg pill at night when I'm on steroids. Sometimes it helps; sometimes it doesn't. I think 50 mg is a fairly low dose. Perhaps I need a larger dose.

My pcp told me it is actually an anitdepressant, but it does not work too well for that purpose, but they discovered it helps people sleep. I just pciked up the pills and they are 50 mg so I am going to take 1/2 tonight and if I am still awake an hour later, I will try another half. I guess if I need it I can go up to 150, but hopefully that will not be the case.

I take 25 mg at night and I have for several years since my first steroid treatment. It helps me to get to sleep and sleep more soundly. It also seems to keep me from waking from nighttime aches and pains. I took 50 mg for a long time but now I'm down to 25mg. The most I ever took was 100 mg when still on a steroid taper. It works great, is cheap, old and safe and my MS neuro said it seems to work for MS patients.

UGH! I have taken my first and last trazadone. Since I started taking zanaflex, I am dealing with a dry mouth. The trazadone made it much worse. I also ended up very congested and felt like I was drunk. I ended up drinking sips of water all night and having to go to the bathroom. I could not use my cpap because I was so congested. This morning, I have a headache and feel like I have a hangover. I did sleep off and on and had what seemed like several dreams after 4:00 am. I going back to ambien. It helps a little and at least I do not feel like **** when I take it.
I don't know why I have such weird reactions to so many meds. I tried taking several different antidepressants three years ago and I just could not tolerate them. |
