Older Onset-PPMS?
 

I believe I have this right, older onset MS is called Primary Progressive. I am 52, I started having sensory symptoms a year and 4 mo. ago. A bee sting like sensation from head to toe every 30 seconds. Followed by all kinds of other odd sensations: wormey electrical feelings mostly in leg & arm, buzzing in feet. No loss of sensation just positive ones. My walking & gait is ok. Neuro put me on Gabapentin, helped somewhat, still have many to this day though. I had an MRI and a Spinal Tap said all was ok. I am not convinced being that I still have symptoms plus additional sensations than I started with to this day.

Can anyone shed any light on these being signs of older onset MS?
Are these two test always an indicator or could they prove not to be?

Any help would be appreciated.

I started having symptoms when I was around 50, and was diagnosed around age 55 with Relapsing-Remitting MS.

Started having numbness in toes, neuropathic pain, other stuff when I was around 50...got dxd when I was 53 two years ago...RRMS

I'm 58 now, and around 50 started having electrical shocks, tingling, numbness and burning in feet. Has progressed to the "hug," a couple episodes of vertigo, increasing spasticity in feet, some continence issues (hard to tell as I also have Crohn's) and and some gait change. Head, cervical and thoracic MRI all WNL, evoked potentials and other exams normal (some thinning of retina) . . . and my diagnosis right now is transverse myelitis.

PPMS is not an age limited diagnosis. Even young people can be diagnosed with it. Just MS that from the beginning has no relapses, no highs or lows, just constant getting worse.

If all you ever have is sensory problems that could be fairly good. Many PPMS goes to physical disability kind of quick.
