Sister Wives - on TLC

This is about the new "reality" show "Sister Wives" on TLC. it is about a polygamist family with a man, three wives and their 12 children (with one on the way) It premiered last night.

I want to make this clear. THIS IS NOT ABOUT BASHING ANY LIFESTYLE OR SPECIFIC RELiGION. It is about the show.

I watched them on The Today Show last week and DVR'd it last night, am watching it now. It's interesting to me how they all work it out.

Laura was in the kitchen getting coffee and I said "I wouldn't mind having another wife around to help me clean" JOKING and she knew I was joking, she said "@#$@#$ @#$@#@ #%@#$@ @#$@#" I guess one will work with me, lol.

Anyone else catch it?

I watched it. It was interesting to say the least. It's surely not a conventional lifestyle but it's more prevalent than I was aware. The first wife said she knew he would take another wife later on so I guess she was okay with it before they married. And she came from a family that practiced that lifestyle, too. So it didn't seem as strange to her as it would to someone who was used to monogamy. Is monogamy even around anymore? Seems everyone I know has dealt with an unfaithful spouse.

How do they get around the "illegal" part of living this lifestyle? Being on TV, this family is out there for the whole world to see.

He is only "Legally married" to the first wife. the other's he is married in the eyes of his God.

Also, they live in Utah, where Polygamy is a felony but not prosecuted any longer (according to the state statutes). There are currently hundreds of polygamy homes - mostly in Northern AZ. and Utah.

I've often thought I'd like to have a wife too- they're smart, they clean, make dinner, raise kids - and if you get a pretty one, get out of tickets! 8-D Some are really strong too!

Yes, I would like 2 or three, myself...no kids though..:p:D ..

Oorrr, better yet, 2 or three cabana boys will do the trick..:cool::cool:

oooooooooh, a cabana boy!!
(Earl - I'm not joking - I think.)

Now that would make an interesting reality show......."Cabana Boys of NT"!

Thanks for the info, Earl. I didn't realize it was so common out there, although I do know that Utah used to have "large families". It doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but then I had trouble having one husband!! lol :)

I saw on an Internet newsfeed that Utah police are investigating the family for bigamy.
