Can fatigue/vertigo be a relapse?
 

Since the vertigo started- back last November and then hit me really hard after a bad migraine this spring the vertigo has been a nightmare. I've been thru Vestibular Rehab for it and no prevail.

I'm taking a low dose of Valium for balance- as needed. Balcofen for muscle spasticity/? Walking is a nightmare. Everyday I wake up and hope my body will cooperate. Normally it doesn't. It goes in spurts of bad days/weeks to a few good days then relapse again.

I felt good for the last few days- with resting in periods; some vertigo/gait problems. So I was hoping to wake up feeling the same today knowing I could clean the house/vaccuum/kitchen floors- basic stuff. Nope. Luckily I cooked a lot of various meats for crockpot meals the rest of the week.

When I woke up at 5:30 to take the dog potty I kept falling backwards onto the bed. Went back to bed an hour later got back up to help kids off to school. That did not go well. I kept walking side-ways, running into walls/doors/anything in the way- so unbalanced that I was petrified. :(

After everyone went on their day I ate a bowl of cereal (low salt) and drank some water. Still felt horrid- infact- worse. Went to bed for another few hours and then realized that I had to cancel appts. No driving today! grr

Ate some lunch, which lately, my stomach can only tolerate very few foods. Stupid- I ate a bowl of chilli!!! DUMB!!! Almost puked for an hour afterwards- felt so sick to my stomach/nausea. Doubt I will eat much of anything tonight. Not used to eating heavy foods let alone anything with spice. Too much.

Had to go lay back down again after I did some light housekeeping/laundry.

Laid on couch most of afternoon. Is this normal?

a side effect of Baclofen is dizziness. (I get that, but it's usually not bad for me)

Why would you be taking valium for your balance? It's an anti-anxiety medicine, but it's also a muscle relaxer. Valium can cause a few problems with balance and also has dizziness as a side effect.

If I were you, I'd go back to the doctor, take a pad of paper with you, or have him or his nurse write out what you're taking and exactly what the medicine is for. That way you know exactly which medication you should be taking for a specific symptom.

I think the only reason I can keep my medications straight is because I've got a family of medical people to tell me which medication is which.

Awwww, maybe you are just not completely over the relapse you just had.:( I'd hate to think you were starting a new one, so soon.:confused:

Yes you need to talk to your Doc about your meds and get a good rapport with your Pharmacist. A good Pharma can tell you about all the sides and counter actions of Meds.

I got chilled in pool then fever last tuesday. Wed, Thurs and slightly Fri I had mild vertigo. It's been totally gone since. I take baclofen 20mg 6x/day. I hear baclofen pumps put the med where you need it, not your head. I'd have 1 but transfer from wheelchair to everythng is hard on my back. Gets bumped alot. I'd rather fix the MS though.

It sounds like you are still in a relapse. Bouncing off walls, dizzy and sick to the tummy is not good. I'd call my Neuro if I was in your situation. I hope you feel better. It's hard when your kids need attention too..and the dog.

Hi everyone! Thank you for your kind words, advice, support and hugs. It means a lot. Right now I'm having all I can do to keep myself (normal) for my family. It is not easy. None of them understand. Frustrating.

I know what you mean about people not understanding. About the only person who gets it in my family is my dad, and that's probably because he has a heart condition and we both have a lot of fatigue.

I told him about "Spoon Theory" and it helped him to understand some of my problems and gave him a reference to use with his own health problems. My mom doesnt understand what we're talking about when my dad said he's doing an "inventory" on his "spoons".

The dosage Vallium does not cause dizziness to everyone, this I know because Rhiannon has had this medication and it did not cause dizziness to her. The vertigo is a sign of relapse into the disease Rhiannon is in one now this is part of how she was given her notice of illness

She is given another medication too which sometimes assists her. Stemazine, it reduces the nausea which erupts into evacuation of her stomach each time she moves. Her walking is stiff and she leans toward moving in one direction though she intends to move in another

I hope you find relief soon, from what I have seen and felt it is not pleasant in any regard
