Hi Maria and welcome
I have copied the post you made on the other thread to one of your own as more members are likely to see this and respond All the best to you |
Maria, Do you qualify for medicaid or medicare? It sounds like you have been doing better before this latest change but if you are at the point where you could qualify for disability you could get both medicare and medicaid.
Even if you could get disability it would take some time to so tho your docs could help push it thru by good documentation given you need for this treatment. I have been thru that myself. But you can still get help thru medicaid or SSI depending on your financial situation and your health. I would call you local department of human services. This department would go by the county you live in like mine is Linn County Department of Human services. I found a site online for Charlotte County Human Services. If you call and get a person that is not helpful call again. For now I am sending you a hug. Annie59 |
Welcome, Maria. The Muscular Dystrophy Association may be able to help you. www.mdausa.org
You may want to contact them to find out where there is an MDA director in your area or an MDA clinic. I'm sorry you are not doing well. Is there any way you can get even state run insurance? It tends to be less expensive. I know that so many people cannot afford insurance and that makes me very sad. Your English is just fine. I hope you can find the right treatments to make you better. Stay the heck out of that Florida heat and humidity - that will make your MG much worse. Good luck! Annie |
Maria, a lot of hospitals will give grants to people who have no insurance, if they have low income. You can call your local hospital and ask to talk to the financial aid advisor. Maybe she can tell you if they give grants for patients who can't pay, and if the immunoglobin treatment would be covered.
Our local hospital has a program like this, and it even covers laboratory tests. Abby |
Re: insurance
I am sorry you are hurting. I did not have insurance eithor for a long long time. It makes a difference to what treatments you will be allowed. I went to my county health programs, to find the doctors that would treat me without insurance. Can you apply for dissability? I could not have receive the spinal fusion I had without the dissability insurance I finally received. I will pray for you, that your situation has resolution. The county health dept can and will help you. ginnie

Hi Maria,
welcome to the forum. I can't give you any advice, as I'm from Australia (we have a total different medical system here). Its seems like everyone here has sorted that out tho with some good information. Hope to see you around here some more take care Kate |
Maria,
We live near Tampa. My husband has MG & we use a neurologist from USF Health. We have insurance, but they might be able to help you because they are involved with USF's medical school. Maybe they could help you find treatment at a lower cost. Good luck to you. Alison  |
Re: another idea
hi maria, I was thinking of another thing. My primary care physician, did refer me to a pain specialist, that was willing to treat me for free. Sometimes when the need is urgent, needed, doctors will treat you for free. Your primary may be able to direct you to a doctor in the medical field you need. Getting dissability is a long process. If there is any chance you think you would qualify, begin that process if you can. I did get a attorney, his agent that helped me through the process. While I was waiting for the medicare to start, I had help with doctors willing to treat me. Keep documentation of all that you do regarding your medical care. I hope you receive the help you need.
