Learned new word today: Formication

Hi,
Pdoc told me the side effects I have been experiencing are called "formication."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formication
He told me to pronounce it right if I ever use it.

He wrote scripts for
2 weeks of Cymbalta 20 mgs and
2 weeks of Cymbalta 30 mgs.
He told me to call him in four weeks.
He told me to take it in the a.m. so it does not interfere with sleep.
He said it can curb appetite. (we'll see about that) and help with pain.

Then he explained to me that the Cymbalta works with the brain's serotonin and norephedrine but not domapine.

He told me about Cymbalta's dry mouth and something else and . . . .I stopped listening. I asked if it had GI side effects like Paxil and Zoloft.
He said "no."

He told me that it was ok for me to continue to take the Wellbutrin 50mgs for a week while I start the Cymbalta at 20mgs.

He acts very optimistic and certain about new meds he gives me. Whatever.
The pharmacy has to get approval from my insurance company so I might have to wait for them to fill it.

=-=-
I looked up Cymbalta and GI side effects. Yuck. No wonder people can loose weight on this med.
I hope that starting with the low doses helps make this a smooth ride.

I thought that you sleep during the day so won't that interfer with your sleep?
I am glad that he has something for you to try and that you are willing to try it.

Mari,

It's great to have a name to put to things. IMHO.
I'm glad that you're going to try Cymbalta. I really hope it helps.

Can you take it with food or milk?

I have pretty nasty dry mouth. I've had luck with biotene "oral balance." It's like a saliva substitute, it's a gel, and it's usually in the tooth paste isle of big drug stores.

Remembered I forgot to take my meds last night

Hi,
I've been awake for a while.
Then I remembered my meds.
Most nights I take them anytime between midnight and 4:00 am. I guess I am not very far off --- but off enough.

My plans for today: take meds and go back to bed

remembering and forgetting

the other night at the table, my mom said she just remembered she'd forgotten to take her lecithin. i'm supposed to take it too, and i too had forgotten, but i didn't feel like taking it either. so.... i answered her,

well then, forget that you remembered that you forgot, and let's just eat!

sorry... your post title reminded me of that episode. :D

i hope you are doing well with the Cymbalta so far. (and remembering not to forget! :p)

btw, had you ever tried Effexor before?

I am not taking my vitamins....forget to take them then decide not to take them, the new fish oil capsule is not enteric coated, taste fishy...UGH!
and it was expensive at our health food store, so I can't justify not taking it or throwing it away.
I found if I tke the ggeodon at dinner I am not consitant, so then at night I don't remember if I took them at dinner so have taken a second dose in case I forgot to take them at dinner. I have not been for the most part still jsut taking them at night.
