Moterator and thread deletions?

Back in 2006 when I rejoined this newer RSD forum... was also part of the previous two before present NeuroTalk.

...most of my threads with active feedback frequently got deleted. I was on Thalidomide for RSD and began treatment on Revimid (lenelidomide), gave up looking for help back then in this forum... only one of many posts survived from 2006.

Is this still common practice here for threads to get deleted (sensored) in the RSD forum?

Hello
I think you are referring to the old BrainTalk Communities.

we are not the same place. This is NeuroTalk Support Groups. We formed when BrainTalk crashed for a few months in 2006, and stayed on after they came back up, but evolved into our own place with no connection other than that some of our members belong to both

The only time anything gets deleted or edited here is if it is not abiding by our guidelines, which are not hard to keep :) and so our moderating is kept to a minimum

here are the guidelines for your reference

Hope that answers your questions.

rushing in where angels dare to tread . . .

I think one of the big differences, for what it's worth, is that BT management effectively delegated moderation duties to a group that had (to the best if my information and belief) run a predecessor site, but had evolved into a faction in its own right on the BT forum. Whereas at NT, everything was up and running long before the RSD/CRPS crowd came over.

Then too, perhaps owing to its Massachusetts Bay Colony roots, it was my experience, in direct dealings with BT management, that it was into "banishment" so long as it was in accordance with what were perceived to be the wishes of the community. That I never ran personally afoul of the system was due only to the care I took in my postings.

Finally, the guidelines at NT appear to be administered with some judgment and discretion, e.g. posts that "belong" in administrative forums are on occasion tactfully transferred with a gentle note of reminder to the poster, without a more severe sanction. And while there may be occasional edits of "flaming" - I don't recall experiencing it personally - the "muscle" appears by and in large to be reserved for those who exhibit compelling evidence of disturbed behavior and/or belligerence "beyond a reasonable doubt."

That said, I can't say that I have agreed with every decision taken here, where, sometime ago, relatively minor "time outs" had the completely unintended consequence of productive members just picking up their marbles and going home. Nonetheless, trusting in the good will and sound judgment of the moderators, it is my hope that no offense will be taken by my comments.

Mike
