Nausea as a ms symptom?

I had been experiencing nausea off and on for about the past month or so. It traces back to when I started tizantidine. Last Friday, I became extremely nauseated and experienced the runs and vomiting for two days. I thought I had a stomach bug. I have not been able to get rid of this constant nausea since then. I am experiencing a lot of belching and acid reflux with it. I can keep food down, but I am not hungry. I saw a nurse practitioner on Wednesday, and she told me to take a zantac at night before bed. I already take a nexium in the morning. They also took three vials of blood. They also gave me a prescription for 5 days of zofram (anti nausea drug they give chemo patients.)

I do have the ms hug in my rib cage on the left side and I am wondering is there is a link. I also had ulcers over ten years ago.

Any ideas? I hate being constantly nauseated. The zofram only helped a bit when I took it the past two days and gave me a killer headache.

I wouldn't be surprised if it could be the xanaflex...after all, it is a muscle relaxant, and the stomach has lots of bands of muscles. Did you look it up on the internet to see if it is a side effect?
I wonder if nausea is a sxs too...but you had diarrhea too, which would indicate a GI bug...
sure hope you feel better soon, hon...

Hey Barb!
I looked up the tizantidine, it does cause nausea. Are you still taking it? Maybe you could let your Dr. know and see if they can give you anything else to try. Feel so sorry for you!! Hope this improves for you. Take care!!

I have already tapered off of the tizantidine. I guess I should have mentioned that.:o I took the last one on Tuesday.

I have constant nausea from the MS. I find peppermint helps. Peppermint tea or even a honey lemon tea is soothing. I eat smaller meals, more frequently. I find if I put a normal adult size meal in my tummy its sure to trigger me. I have constant MS hug on my right side.

Try some meditation, relaxation, and distraction. I find the more I focus on it, the worse it is.

I frequently get nausea for no apparent reason. Not bad enough to be physically ill, but definitely noticeable.

I blame MS for everything and yes, it makes me want to vomit, often..

Sally- reading your comment made my day. I just laughed and laughed... Sorry that I am finding humor in it.. Lately, I have been trying to poke fun of all this medical stuff... It is the ONLY way that I have been surviving this entire disaster that has been taking over my body- just like everyone else here. Laughter- truly is the best medicine!!! :winky:

I get nauseated so much that I could literally puke too. Some days I'm lucky to eat just some crackers, water and sprite. That is it. My weight goes up and down.. my clothes are fitting looser. The bright side-- my clothes are fitting looser!! ;) But- not for a good reason though. I'm just trying to look for the brighter side of things.

I had nausea, dizziness, vertigo as a symptom for months a few years back. The nausea was bad enough that I just didn`t feel like eating, and lost 30-35 pounds. Then it just went away, I wasn`t taking any drugs at the time.

I understand why you would experience nausea when you are expereining vertigo. That is a horrible feeling.
