Royal Jelly

Has anyone every tried Royal Jelly? I read about someone on another MG forum (Daily Strength) who takes Royal Jelly twice daily to help boost her energy. I'm not one to just take anything, so I figured I'd see what others might be doing?

Thanks,
Rachel

Never heard of it - - what is it?

Rachel, At times, we can all be desperate to find anything that will make us better. I'm not saying you're desperate but why try something that has not been PROVEN to help MG? First, you don't know if the bee pollen has contaminants or not, how it was made, where it was made and if it has other ingredients. People with bee allergies, respiratory allergies, etc. may actually have an allergic reaction to it.

The best thing you can do, until they test things like this on people with autoimmune diseases, is to take good care of yourself. Get a lot of sleep, eat whole foods, keep stress out of your life, meditate, etc.

I normally am all for sensible supplements but I find this one to be too big of a risk for those with autoimmune problems. They aren't certain of it's effects on the immune system, whether it is good or bad or both. You can do a PubMed search yourself but you have to weigh those studies along with your own unique health background, along with your doctor's input.

I hope that helps.

Annie,
I totally agree, I couldn't find anything one way or the other as far as helping people with MG. It didn't seem like many folks on the other forum used it either.

So many people take all kinds of supplements these days I figured I'd throw the question out there.

I can't imagine taking anything without consulting my Neuro first. I'm so new to the MG thing I read every label on everything I pick up before I buy, eat, or drink it. I don't want to leave anything to chance. But if someone gets desperate enough who knows what they might take or do.

I agree a good diet, exercise, and a positive state of mind go a long way, with or without MG.

Rachel
