Legs burning - why?? Anyone there??
I have RSD in my rt leg... now both of my legs below the knee are burning and hurting... does this mean that my RSD is spreading? I am unsure. How can I tell? What can I do?:confused::confused: I am already taking a lot of meds (Morphine, Neurontin, Hydorcodone, Tizanadine...) Any ideas? I really need someone to talk to... :grouphug:

I feel the despiration in your voice..and I am sorry.. It is possible your RSD has spread.. please try to relax as the stress is not good for your symptoms.. when you can, please call your treating physcian in order to get in and see them..Possibly they can determine what is happening and set a course of action or even increase your pain meds..Most of all, give you piece of mind.. You have our support.. we all sympathize with your pain and concerns..we can relate and want to help you.. Try to get a good nights rest..don't not use ice on your painful legs..warm bath.. and when you wake..call your Dr.. Rest my friend.. Hugz, Kathy:grouphug: |
Thank you Kathy. I appreciate your reply! I have a great PM Dr. it is just so hard for me to get in to see him because I don't drive and have to rely on my husband and he has to take time off work to take me... that is stressful too. But I will contact him. I am trying to walk. I wonder if that could be making it worse?? Do you have RSD??

I agree about contacting your doctor. It is hard to know about spreads. I have had my condition spread but I have also had other pain that I thought was a spread but turned out not to be. So I try though very hard to stay in the day. I do have rsd in both legs one is worse still then the other. I feel part of the issue is to protect my bad leg I rely on the better one and that in itself caused problems and pain. I hope you feel better and get some answers.

The Burning of RSD. My RSD is upper extremety I do get burning on right thigh and right arm.THis = I'm in a real flare. At this point of my RSD I have been at this for 7 years I don't get that constant burning but I get it if I'm real tired, real stressed, doing to much at work or house work etc. I used to get it constantly in the beginning but after many procedures including ketamine(which really took away the burning almost completely)and as I said before only when things are stressed do I start to feel it again. Medication and rest helps. And believe it or not I use my La Maze Tech. to calm myself down. My husband laughs at me" You never used la maze when we had the kids" , I had 2 c-sections but I have used it so much during procedures, surgeries etc. I quest the concept of the breathing takes your mind off the pain is good for more than just birth. Try and rest. Hope you feel better. It took me so long to just say to myself everything will me there tomorrow and just try and take care of yourself until it calms down. I have had a lot of burning over the past 6 months, but here's a little test of how stress does bring on flares. My husband and I have been caring for his very sick mom who has stage 4 lung cancer and she has been living with us. Her home is about an hour or so away from ours & all her doctors are there also so there's a lot of driving back and fourth and to make things worse she has a serious mold issue. So she can't go back home, they say she's in remission but it won't last, she just finished a dreadful round of chemo and would like to go back home. So on top of the illness we are dealing with insurance companies, contractors who want to rip you off. We are in the process of hiring someone to correct the problem my husband and I have the complete responsiblitiy of everything. So yes I would say I am more stressed than normal. And I have 1 college student and a jr. in high school, thank god they are normal teenagers, for the most part, and don't give my husband and I any trouble. I am so proud of them both. Sorry I tend to ramble... Good luck , Gabbycakes |

Yes, I take hydrocodone and other meds, but I also use relaxation methods, meditation, exercise, music, visualization, anything I can to calm me and keep life as low stress as possible. My Dr. is conservative on pain meds, and I take anti=anxiety med-lorazepam that lowers nerve pain. sleeping pill -10 hrs a night helps with pain. anti-depressant also helps with nerve pain. Physical Therapy has helped many of us to keep mobile. Also desensitization was extremely important. Massage Therapy was sometime that really helped me regain range of motion and I still use. HBOT is something that has helped some. Biofeedback, learning to identify body stress and counter it with relaxaton methods. My Dr. thinks highly of ketamine and is working on a ketamine, lidocaine, anti-inflammatories cream with compounding pharmacist. Did I give you website rsdrx.com puzzles list Dr. Hooshmand practiced 40 years in Florida -RSD- now retired, but website still up and excellent. The puzzles are questions with his answers. Keep us up to date. NT also has private message available. You can push on upper right hand corner 'Your Notifications' and then on left side private message- then put in name of person and type private message. Take care, loretta with soft hugs:grouphug: |

A few things to consider that my fiancee came up with - I did try to cut down on my morphine starting the day before yesterday - this can be a side effect of that. Also, I noted the date of your post and if you're anywhere in the North East, we were getting a strong storm system moving in. The change in air pressure could cause it. However, I would definitely talk to your DR about it, especially if it persists. Dawn |
