"Normal" B12 Levels with Neuropathy

Alright, I know that I have read over and over and over again that if you have neuropathy, you should not accept the standard definition of normal labels for things such as B12.

Last month I had blood work done and it showed that my B12 had gone down quite a bit to 285, which my doctor considers normal.

My Vitamin D went down over 20 points to 42, which is also "normal".

I just got the results in the mail of the blood work I had on Tuesday. My B12 is at 312--so it actually went up a bit. However, if the normal is 239-931, it is not that high at all. I'm guessing that by everyone's standards on this forum (who say not to go by the doctor's standards), my level is not high enough.

He didn't give me a number for Vitamin D, so I'm guessing it's between 30 and 100, which is the normal range.

Here's the problem. My levels dropped dramatically between July and August. They were just barely normal in August. I think that they are also just barely normal in September (I plan to ask what my Vitamin D was at).

If we (people with PN) are not supposed to follow the standards that the doctors use, but that we should be on the high end of normal, can someone PLEASE find me a credibly link (from a journal or some other reliable source) to prove that.

I have searched google countless times, and can't find anywhere that it says that we should not accept the normal levels.

Likewise, my doctor won't just accept that. He doesn't seem to know this fact (that we should base ourselves off of a different scale). I have told him before but he either doesn't agree, doesn't understand, or just forgets.

He is a PCP and has very limited knowledge of PN.

I need some solid proof to show him, so he can understand that my levels are not normal.

They have been consistently low since December at least--probably August when I had my surgery. There is only one month where my vitamin D was at 66... the rest of the time it's been on the low range.

I am frustrated, but don't know what to do. I don't want to wait another 2 weeks until I go and see him. I have been asking for months to figure out a way to get a higher dose of vitamins into my body and everyone either puts it off, dismisses it, or says "we will worry about it later... let's check again next month".
