Cushion

MrsD - did you get the email I sent you regarding the cushion you bought? - DanP

mrsD 10-15-2010 03:08 PM

OH,

I am so sorry.... since the weekend our elderly cat has been really sick (kidney failure), and we expected this, but it does not make it any easier. Today I just had to authorize the Vet to put her to sleep, and I have been a wreck. We are burying her in the yard tonight.

I'll send that info a little later today, I just didn't check my emails all this week. sigh.

The cushion is really good. Made for wheelchairs, etc. And not expensive either. In fact I'll get that link for you now...

Since I have a large "captain's chair"... the large one just fits it!
There is a smaller version of this same cushion, if you look around in that area where this one is. I keep a towel over it, because the wipe-off plastic covering is hot to sit on. But I do enjoy it!

I apologize, for not checking my email! :o

I am so sorry to hear about you Sheba... She had a long life. I am sure she was a happy girl and had a wonderful existence with her care in your hands...

It just hurts so darn much. I have been through it a few times. I have had burials and wakes for my cats. Our mouser (the first cat my husband and I had together) was probably the most difficult to put down, he lived about 24 years but developed liver cancer. It hurts and takes a while to heal. Just try to remember what a good life she had...

My condolences to you and your family.

Mere

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. No, nothing makes it easier. I am sure she had a wonderful life with you.

In my humble opinion, no heaven would be complete without our pets.

OH! Mrs D! I will listen for meows myself...

As when another friends' cat passes, I tend to 'hear' my own past dears rustling around the house. I truly understand your loss.
I'll comment on cushions later...Know that I am all the bubbles hugging YOU at once! :grouphug: - She is without pain now rest assured. And missing you in one level, but watching you on others. You will know what I mean and likely soon. Heart and hope always! - j

Thanks for the info mrsD. And, I too am very sorry to hear about your cat. When a pet dies it's like losing a member of the family - the grief is equally as difficult. We have a dog and I know when it passes my wife will be 'out of it' for at least a week. Sometimes I think she loves that doggie more than me. LoL

Oh, Thank you everyone. And Dan, hubby helped me alot with this problem. Over the years Sheba became very attached to me. He often called her my "familiar". I adopted her 24 yrs ago from the same Vet clinic she finally ended up at. She was dropped off there by a family as a kitten. She and her littermate
were up for adoption. We had just lost our Charlie Cat who was 19 and also black, and we wanted a new cat. There was a litter just born and the Vet said I could reserve one and to come in.
Well, how does one pick a cat at that stage? No way to determine personality etc. So above this new family was Sheba, crying piteously, because her littermate was adopted out and now she was alone. She had rubbed off the fur from one side of her face, rubbing on the bars of the cage and looked pathetic. So I asked the tech about her, and she said most likely would not be adopted because she is a black cat. So I asked to hold her to see if she had a nice personality, the tech trusted us to have her (screening for owners for black cats was carefully done there). From that day, Sheba was bonded to me mostly, and hubby often was mildly jealous too. He used to call her Pork Chop when she was heavier, and also the Big Bag of Protoplasm when he had to pick her up. But he also was kind to her basically. She just never warmed up to him. One of our other cats Oreo, is highly bonded to him instead. She is 9 now.

Sheba was very dignified, and rather lazy. Very Queenly! LOL
She was definitely Alpha here, and the other 2 cats are now
in a mixed state of confusion. Today I will redo her box which she used as a day bed. Sheba had the best spot over the part of the floor above our steam pipes for the winter. I am removing her box completely and setting up a new one for the others to use. Cats really love "boxes", much better than fancy beds IMO. All our cats love tissue paper as a liner! Not very Martha Stewart, but the kitties love the boxes! We have found some wonderful types at Costco in fact. They use them there to pack up your purchases. They are very heavy duty and have fruit and veggie pictures on them! ;)

I cried so much yesterday and was soooo tense, I had to get the Ultram out ...I am all congested. I am relieved for her, though because since June when the Vet found the rising renal values, I've been focusing on her all day long, seeing if she were worsening. This weekend she suddenly turned and we knew it was the end. She was at the Vet overnight with IVs to see if she would rally, but the tests were really bad, so we had to end her suffering. With my son now living on his own, and busy, and no grandchildren, yet, we only have the cats. They seem like children to me and we are highly invested in them emotionally, as a result. I miss her terribly so far!

Let me know if you get one of these cushions. So far mine has really helped my legs, which were getting stiff with all the computer time I put in here!

Thank You!

Thank you so much mrsD. You said it so well. It is awful to lose a pet.:icon_cry: That's why we still haven't gotten another cat or dog but we really do want one. And we are now looking. Take care.

So sorry about your 'Sheba'. :boy(sad):
We had adopted, as a 6 mo kitten, a Russian Blue
who died after 17 years in our family (or we in his).:Hum:
He outlasted 2 dogs (and was cohabiting with a 3rd), and was definitely the 'alpha' pet in the house. When he died, it left our rescue Beagle *****, as our only pet.
She has bonded to my wife predominately (sleeps next to her in the bed),
but is a hussy for anyone to rub her belly. :p She's my wife's 'baby' since our 'empty nest' has left us devoid of children.
The youngest (23) is out on his own, trying to 'make it' in the world.
If anything would happen to that Beagle, I think my wife
would be in mourning for months.:Sob:
