RSD and Depression

Unfortunately, for the last several years I have been suffering from depression as a result of RSD and pain meds. It's made a difficult situation even more difficult as I isolate myself in a cocoon of pain, drowsiness and depression. I also occasionally run a high fever which my doctor is not familiar with as it relates to RSD. Does anyone else have associating depression and high fever?

Mel, while I can't speak for everyone, I'm pretty sure just about anyone in any kind of chronic pain will have associated depression, I certainly have. I've never had a fever related to it though, just tachycardia.

Mel -

If you are running a high fever for any length of time, you need to be worked up ASAP by an internal medicine specialist. An "urgent care" facility at a good clinic or hospital is often a good place to start, if you can't get in to see anyone right away. There are many things it could be, but at least to the best of this layman's knowledge, RSD/CRPS is unlikely to be one of them.

Hi Mel, RSD affects the Limbic System in the brain, therby causing depression. Also the losses we experience are heavy duty and sad, causing depression.
I have RSD full body and internally. Have many parts of my body that feel 105 degrees internally coming thru the skin and feels HOT. Inflammation is a symptom of this fire. I run a fever,-how high are you talking about? I also have fibromyalgia which causes inflammation.
I agree with Mike, important to get to the source of the fever. your friend, loretta
