Neurological Disorders afficting Sex?

Hello Members,

Has anyone here experienced there neurlogical disorder affectiing sex?

I have problems with sex drive because I have no sex drive and am not sure why. Second of all I have no sexual feeling. I do have feeling in that area I am not parlized or nothing but when it comes to sex I feel very little, mainly pain, not pleasure. I have Hydrocephalus. Has anyone else experienced this?

If you are on meds that could be a part of the reason.
Have you mentioned it to your doc or OB/GYN?

Ripple,

I have something similar going on and have been tested by a Urogynecologist. The problem is a weak pelvic floor and basically caused by lumbar/sacral issues (nerve damage) from the L5/S1. I also have a cystocle and rectocle. So, a visit to your ob/gyn sounds like it is in order. I hope this helps. :)

Oh, yes, neuro disorders can have that effect for both men and women. Can cause all sorts of sexual dysfunction - lack of desire, painful sex, numbness, erectile dysfunction, etc. Even retrograde ejaculation.

I have MS and have had to deal with a few issues in that area. Sometimes it's part of the meds, but with MS more often than not,it's the disease itself.

Ask your neuro about it. Might be a bit uncomfortable, but I found it preferable to the alternative - just suffering with it.

If your doc is of the opposite sex and that makes it difficult to talk to them about it, try mentioning it to a nurse. If you explain your discomfort, they will usually broach the subject with the doc for you.

Of course, it could be other things, so it would be a good idea to bring it up with your gyno,as well.

Hi! Tomorrow I have appointment with neurosurgeon and I have no idea what will he tell me. But i recognized myself in yo your words. I am very interested to find out how did you find out your diagnosis to be well exactly that (I haven't seen any urogynecologist, this seems now like a good idea:winky:)? I have as well issues with L5/S1 and even L4/L5, but i couldn't believe that this could be the cause of my problem (veeeeeery painful intercourse and chronic pain in buttocks and leg). I guess what I'am trying to ask you is how do you cope with your problem and have you found any solution to make your sex life easier? I appreciate so much any help you can provide on that matter as my marriage is slowly falling apart:(

I have always been a spoiled woman:D I was injured over 10 months ago, now I have chronic rsd and my husband and I didn't even for 4 mon. I ddin't even crave it, the thought made me even worsen, what I do know is I think about how wounderful, what he's done for me, also his support, my right foot up to my back is infected, it's hard mentally & physically and I hurt so bad, I love my husband so I sacrifice my pain and how i feel to make him happy, that makes me happy, if your spouse loves you tell them how you feel tell them u understand them, if they truely love ya, theres always ways around it. I hope this helps ya!

Hey guys just a suggestion, I have MS and with that comes the dreaded numbness, and even worse the tinglings. Anytime there is any kind of rubbing in that area it is followed with the 9 volt battery on the tongue feeling. This lasts for about half an hour after we...

Now with mine the drive is there. I am a 29 yr old woman who has been on an emotional roller coaster, believe me the drive is there.

I can suggest finding other ways to please one another, especially if intercourse if painful. For me sex is more of a mental thing than a physical. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the physical most of the time too. But there are times such as when I am completly numb down there that I try to find other ways to satisfy my DH2B.

I don't suggest numbing creams or lubes, basically it is oil and lidocaine and really it is not as much fun if numb. But if you find that oral or exterior stimulation is pleasurable as opposed to penetration then you may want to experiment on extended foreplay sessions. As others have mentioned, meds play a big role in sex drive as do hormones. There isn't much that can be done about spinal injuries, but hormones can be replaced.

well OK Being Male I will join...
My wife and I have enjoyed a healthy sex life up until about two years ago. I have always had some lower back pain but ignored it as just work related. well, having sex just got to be too much work. I have absolutely no problem with ED, but just could never cross the finish line. My wife blamed herself as I could not tell her what was wrong...I did not know!

recently I had several spinal MRI's that showed extreme problems. My cervical was just fused 8 weeks ago, and my lumbar which is causing all my "problems" is next. I have a lumbar spine that is in desperate need of repair, causing alot of nerve damage from my waist down. Doctor said it's amazing I don't have a ED problem. this sure does put a strain on the marraige though.

yeah, i have numbness in my penis since an injury that happened to it in 2006. i have scar tissue down there. i can feel the scar tissue. im seriously numb down there. iv been to a neurologist but he said he cant detect any nerve damage from the mri iv taken. a drug called xiaflex is going to come out later this year that's supposed to eliminate scar tissue, and im really hoping it will allow my nerves to come back. its really hard to overcome this numbness, sometimes i feel like i cant take it anymore. im pretty much mentally exhausted, iv been numb for about 6 years, and im 25 now. i think my only hope for my nerves to come back may be through this injection called xiaflex...it's just so hard to handle the thought that the drug not working and il have to live the rest of my life with a numb penis. iv been praying every morning and every night. I feel like i cant even be close to my girl friend because of this horrible numbness, so i just push her away because i don't wanna bring her into my horrible life. how do u handle it? every time i touch myself flaccid or erect im so numb down there. even when i wake up im instantly reminded im numb even if i wake up with an erection. it makes life so much harder. i feel like nobody can help me and im so scared that the cure thats coming out wont even give me back my feeling. is life really worth living?
