Flu Shot

Just wondering has anyone had the flu shot yet?? Is there a certain type that RSDer's soppose to take?

My husband got one Saturday morning. So far no complaints except the muscle is sore at the injection site.

His situation is a little different than most in that he is currently in remission. I didn't want him to get the shot for fear he would lose that, but he insisted. So far so good, but my fingers are still crossed.

I think there is an inhaled version of the vaccine, but if you're over 46 or 47, they won't give it to you. I'm not sure why.

I got mine yesterday and did not even feel the needle at all. I was already in a pain level of 10 and beyond so it was hard to tell what it had done to me. There is some soreness to the site. I have rsd from finger all the way up my shoulders in both arms. Im not a happy camper here.

I thought it was more a concern about it causing spread during a flare? My right arm is ok so I take all necessary IVs. shots, etc in that one. Just wasnt sure if a flu shot was really or potential for spread into that limb?

I guess I could just get it in the left arm if I can stand the pain since that arm is already wrecked anyway,

It is really hard to tell if your already in pain. I don't think the flu shot would cause a spread. I had the h1n1 shot last year and i seem to be okay beside the constant pain im in.

My daughter had a flare after a flu shot...and spread of the RSD into her upper limbs. But, I know that a lot of RSDer's have to flu shot.

I haven't had my flu shot yet but my pneumonia shot went fine (and it lasts five years). My PC doc thought it was a good idea because of the effect of RSD on the immune system.

For the past 3 years, I have been getting the nasal mist version of the flu shot. It is kinda hard to find. You can contact DHEC in your state & they can tell you where you can find it in your area. I am 28 years old, but I go to a pediatricians office to get mine. I just don't like to get stuck by a needle if it can be avoided.

I am in terrible pain i should have never taken the shot..I can't get the nasal because im asthmatic.I regret i did this now im suffering i so hate this.

I had the flu and pneumonia shot about 18 months ago and didn't have any problems. I got a bit of cold but nothing too bad. Thankfully the nurse gave me the injection in my none RSD arm at that time so I didn't have a bad flare up.
