What Part of the Day . . . ?
It used to be that I felt the best in the morning for a few hours (cognitively and physically). I would get up around 5:30 a.m. and be fine until around 10:00. Then I would go downhill until I napped. Then I would get up and be ok for a few hours and then downhill again around 4 in the afternoon and by 7 I was done for the day and in bed between 9 and 10.
I have notice a shift in my "normal" routine over the past several months. I now wake up and am not at my best, physically, until after I nap. That means all morning my body is rebelling against me. My brain says go, go, go and my body says no, no, no. Anyhow, I was wondering what part of the day do you feel the worst physically and/or cognitively - morning, afternoon, or evening? You can choose more than 1 option. |
I put "all of these", because It can happen anytime of day or night for me. I don't live on a regular schedual anymore, it's more like a viscious circle:D, so morn, noon and night can happen anytime in the 24 hours.
I usually suffer the most when I am tired, stressed or sick. If I don't get up to early or too quickly, then Morn is good, then I must take an afternoon nap (4 hrs), and then I am usually fine at night. I just can't stand all the excitement..:yahoo:  |
I answered for Jim. Definitely the mornings are worse physically on him.
|
And I checked "none" because my worst time can be any time. I probably should have checked "all of these."
It just depends. If I haven't slept well, mornings can be horrible. If I have to rush around and be somewhere at some early hour (like 9:30 AM!), I won't do well. But things can get bad at midday or in the afternoon or evening too. If I have an infection or have been doing too much, I'll be in for a bad time. |
I find while groggy and tired in the AM, its not my problem spot. By the time 2pm rolls around, I am beat! I am mentally and physically spent. I tend to lay down around 3 or so and regain some lost steam, so the PM hours are not as bad. If I was not able to seek some lay down time I would simply not be functional in the PM. :(

I'm still working on my answer, but I was sharing this with my daughter, and she made the observation that by noon you would have likely had input only from the morning people...or if you had input from people who were worse in the morning, your data would be slanted because of that.
She was just being a smart aleck (where does she GET that?) but I was thinking she wasn't far off. If I wait and answer in the morning, you might get a well thought out, articulate answer. If I answer in a couple of hours, you'll probably get "bite me". Know what I mean? :D The cognitive part was easy: I start out reasonably sharp once I get the cobbies out of my head, and get progressively worse as the day goes on until I hit the Dead Zone, between 5 or 6 and bedtime, when I essentially just take up space. Physically I am horrible from the time I wake up and realize I'm still alive until the naproxen kicks in and I get myself pulled together. Say an hour or two. Then I am "okay" until the end of the day when I get worse again and can barely drag my fat self around. |
I answered both in the evening, but my sxs are so unpredictable that it was difficult to answer...but I am consistently bad in the evening, so I chose that...
MS stinks, no matter what time of day it decides to visit... |
I answered "physically in the evenings." I am tired in the afternoon when I get home from school, but my walking deteriorates throughout the day so that by evening I am doing the Frankenstein walk. I have not noticed any consistent cognitive problems. Of course other people around me might answer that I always appear to be cognitively challenged.

I said I have cognitive decline in the afternoon. I started a new thread on this problem I have.

Dej - By the time 2 pm comes around I have either already napped and/or am just waking up.:D It seems I am on a 4 hour wake/1-2 hour nap/rest cycle.
