Hi!

I have had peripheral neuropathy for 8 years and have been a frequent reader of the Neuropathy Association's website. This organization was listed by one of the members, and I thought I would see if I could learn or share experiences with others.

I retired from teaching 6 years ago due to my inability to stand all day long. I tutored children at my school until this past June when I retired completely.

I am currently taking 3600 mg. of neurontin and my neurologist has added 75 mg. of lyrica at bedtime with the hope of making a complete gradual transition to lyrica. This medical info may not be appropriate for the social chat forum, but since this is my first post, I'm a little in the dark.

And come on over--

--to the Peripheral Neuropathy section of this board (if you haven't already); as I recall, there are at least several people who've transitioned, or are in the process of transitioning, from Neurontin to Lyrica.

I happened on this site by accident as a result of a google search. Hope to post in the glutensensivity/celiac disease forums and learn some things.

Hi Mary Eileen: Read with interest your meds, I also am on 4000 neurontin and had to retire my office job due to leg pain. wanted you to know what
has really helped me is Xanax at bedtime. It gets me to sleep quickly and I also put ice on my feet and legs. I did not see any difference between Lyrica and Neurontin ( Neurontin is much more affordable for me, at any rate). Good luck and let me know how you are from time to time. Trish

Hi Mary Eileen, Welcome, I have RSD and am on 3200 Neurotin, My Dr. and I have discussed Lyrica. He is a Neurologist and a Pharmacologist, and Phych. Dr. He said the study on Lyrica was only a year and not that many people. Some it does well with and others Neurotin is better. I don't think i will try it till it's out longer. Most RSD patients are on antidepressants for nerve pain and replace serotonin that is depleted with the disease. I'm on two -paxil 25 mg. and wellbutrin 300 mg. in the morning. 2 mg of lorazepam three times a day. have ambien cr when sleep problems. two blood pressure pills. vicodin for pain. I don't know very much about your disorder, I have RSD full body 10 years and also left side of face with trigeminal nerve problem.
Hope you find logs of support on this site. loretta
