shoulder alignment

does anyone still posting have a winged scapula or abnormally positioned shoulders? have any of you tried to treat this? thanks.

My shoulders are not level with each other - one is lower or higher depending on which one is the normal one ..I never focused on figuring that part out.
I did notice my mom's shoulders are the same way - she fell off the front of a horse drawn sled and got run over by the sled rails. luckily there was a low spot she fell into and it just tore her dress off - she was 12 then.

I did land on my head as a teenager - my horse bucked me off.
Looking back on things I think that was a factor in me getting a bit crooked - my c1 /c2 probably got misaligned way back then , I did have a moderate concussion was "out" for awhile too.

Probably contributed to my c spine "spurs/osteophytes" a bit too.

But I never had any sort of issues or problems until after many yrs of assembly work & hitting age 38:rolleyes:.

ow your fam seems to have bad luck with horses

my dad has a billion neck/back problems. he's never had shoulder trouble but his are lopsided like mine (left side is too high or right too low depending on how you look at it). my right collarbone sticks out, left doesn't really. if i lie down on a hardwood floor and put my arms flat over my head my right shoulder doesnt sit flat like my left. i know that nobodys perfectly symmetrical but i wonder how common it is to be that different. i also think my left side, the trapezius is more muscular. aside from tense traps the rest of my back muscles are nonexistent :D

since i cant lift weights i guess im gonna do yoga. and eventually pilates.

Just be sure to modify some of the positions to your own comfort level.
one member got injured from doing certain yoga poses, I can't recall who it was or what pose it was though it was years ago that it was posted about.

historical

at one time my right shoulder used to droop forward and pop when i tried to sleep on my good side. this actually went away on its own. i don't know what i did right.

MsPenny - I have one shoulder which rounds in and is elevated off the ground when I'm lying flat. The muscle under my clavicle on that side is very dominant and almost non-existant on the left. My clavicles sound like yours as well. They are not symetrical but were symetrical before tos.
Up until June or so, I was only doing hands-off Physical Therapy and failing. I found an excellent manual therapist and my clavicles look very different now. The bone definition is more pronounced and they are looking more and more alike. I still have a long way to go, but positive visual changes are happening. I don't think you're alone in your observations. Why do so many doctors blow us off when we point these anomolies out to them?

hi, yes i realized i made minor a mistake in my post earlier. ours do sound the same- right side- elevated lying flat, rounded in, dominant clavicle. left- disappearing clavicle, not elevated, lower.

that's interesting yours look more even now. i like to see if i can put a finger or two in mine.

as for docs, i've had a doctor flatout tell me i was overanalzing things! how rude. when there's only a tiny bit of space for nerves and arteries etc, how could minute details NOT matter!!

i believe the inflammation from lifting weights has only exaggerated the differences in my sides too. not good.
