Wondering what others think

about this article

and extrapolating it to IV steroids for PwMS in an exacerbation

Hmmmmmmmmm? Interesting article. So Steroids, like other Meds, may have a kickback effect, when you stop taking them?

It's not so hard to believe, especially if you take them in high doses. Ever have a kickback headache? I have.

They say that Tysabri has the effect in some patients.

Good Article, thanks for posting, Missj.:)

Nothing surprising, the Cortisone shot is just a temporary fix for pain. It is not a cure. Since it allows people to work past the pain it is used way too much by many. It has no real relation to IVSM to treat relapses in MS, where steroids are also a temporary solution, not a cure.

Interesting article, missj.

I have had one cortisone shot with good results.

I had a partial tear in the rotator cuff several years ago. I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon who I had used in the past. He wanted to try a shot of cortisone before we even discussed surgery.

That one shot was all I needed. It helped with the pain and after a few days I could start working on my range of motion...slowly and carefully. I have never had any more problems with the rotator cuff and have full range of motion.

As wkikta mentioned, steroids for MS is a temporary solution and not a cure.

Yes, Bill is right about Corizone and IVSM not being the same. My comparrison was to the rebound effect and there, they may be similar, for some people. The rebound effect can happen with many drugs.

IVSM lost it's effectiveness for me after the first time. then it did not work and only made me feel worse.
