Feeding olives to Dogs

I am about to feed Chloe some black olives, I THINK they are okay. Myself, I just took some ambain so i am not clean in the head.

I hope Chloe likes it (she did)! She is a big girl, I think all 10 pounds of her will love olives!!! (She did).

Anyone else worryied?:D, (no need to worry).

Thanks.

One thing that worries me,

To call the ASPCA:

If you think that your pet may have ingested a potentially poisonous substance, make the call that can make all the difference: (888) 426-4435. A $65 consultation fee may be applied to your credit card.

$65 dollars is a lot.

I would personally suggest *not* to ever feed your pet *anything* that you are not sure of. Way too risky IMHO and not worth the potential harm it may cause. Rather check first, or if in doubt, don't!

Yes it sure is, I'd call my local vet instead.
He'd answer for free.:D

And if I needed to take the dog or cat or? in for a quick check in person he usually only charges a minimal fee.

Hmmmmmmmmmm...not sure I agree with everything on that list. Our airedales, came from the breeders, expecting cheese as their reward for learning new stuff. And our Cassie, loves watermelon, and gets scrambled eggs & bacon with her dry dogfood every Sunday morning.

Also her food is topped with a tablespoon of yogurt...organic yogurt. She gets two fish oil capsules, and 1 joint pill in the am...1 fish oil with the evening meal. When we took her in for the wellness physical our vet approved her diet and her condition.

When we have to leave her for several hrs. we stuff her kong w/cheerios, dried cranberries, dried banana slices, ends sealed with p/butter. :D

If you click on the items themselves on that list... you can see that occasional use is okay. It is everyday, or heavy feeding for many of the common items to avoid.

I have to laugh at the "corn"... Many pet foods have corn gluten in them!

We gave our 24yr old cat a cooked shrimp a day as a "treat", for over 10 yrs.
When we started it, she was fat, and had poor coat...and was sickly.
The added protein from the shrimp and a change in dry food to Eukanuba and she lived 14 more years! I credit the shrimp with making her MORE healthy!

the corn gluten in the commercial catfood (even some "premium" brands) was believed to have been one of the culprits causing some of the neuro probs our catShadow had. He really did show great improvement when switched to his special diet, all natural chicken with nutrients mix.

When we saw how much corn is in commercial cat foods, my son and I wryly joked of how cats love darting thru the cornfields at night munching on corn cobs:rolleyes:
Nope! they are munching on the mice who are munching on the corn, and assimilating it into cat friendly form :D

Thanks funny, Chemar! We used to say the same thing!

But you know I grew up with a cocker spaniel, who loved to munch on left over corn on the cob! She'd beg for it...not much left, but she would clean the cobs bare!
She also loved carrots...raw. She even dug them up from my little kid garden that I had once. I don't recall other things about her and food, except once she got into my Easter basket and ate 1/2 of a chocolate bunny! (It wasn't very large, but it was devastating to ME at the time...I think I was about 5 or 6).
In those days no one knew about chocolate and dogs!

We had a spaniel that ate peas that dropped when we were shelling them as kids.
our dogs all follow us to the raspberry patch and eat what gets dropped- even take the low ones off the bushes sometimes..

the puppy loves to chew & tear up raw potatoes.

I often pour leftovers or the remainder of meat cooking juices onto the dog food...
With the puppy {he has become the top dog for the most part} I have to divide it up so all get some.
