Horrible chest pains
ON both sides of my chest. Especially horrible if I take a deep breath in. I remember this pain from a while ago when hospitalized, but they did such a workup and found nothing. Does anyone else get these pains that they have no idea where they come from?
Possibly the IVIG i just had? Prednisone? Imuran? Zoloft? Who knows. haha. Hope your all doing well |
along with a bloody nose! ahh.
hate this |
Tyson, I'll keep this simple: Go to the ER.
Just because they didn't find anything last time does not mean they won't this time nor does it mean that all is well. It obviously is not, since your symptoms are NOT normal. I hope you'll be okay. Annie |
I think Annie has it right. You can really get into trouble making assumptions--you don't know that these are the same pains (or even if they are, that they won't find the cause this time). We myasthenics have to be extra careful. We don't get to brush things off. I hope you go, and I hope they can help you.

I'm going to put my two cents in and say do as they say.
However, I want to add that you need to be demanding and persistent. I had muscle weakness for years, and I let it go, because the doctors could not find anything. It was not until I woke up, falling on the floor, fighting to breathe. After that episode and a sore throat from coughing like a maniac to breathe, I wouldn't let them tell me it was nothing or something that could not be diagnosed. Flash forward, they ran test and discovered the enlarged thymus, with what was suspected to be a remnant of tissue but is now 5.7 cm at last count. They are still monitoring the tissue on the thymus. I wonder is it tissue or a tumor. I don't know, but I still advocate for my health, and I must say this site has been a godsend. I wish you get the answers you deserve in your search, but you do not let the doctors tell you there is nothing, if you continue to suffer. |
No aspirin then!
Tyson, chest pain with bloody nose - check your Blood Pressure ( if you don't have a monitor at home- they have it in any Walgreens,or - everybody is right-they sure have it in ER!).And no aspirin, please!

I now know that it was dangerous and a sign of signficant respiratory muscle weakness. I know another patient with MG and significant respiratory muscle involvement who gets them as well. hope you feel better soon, and find the way to live with this illness, without giving up your plans and dreams (even if you need to modify them). it's not easy but is doable. :winner_first_h4h: alice |
Tyson, My first thoguht was had you tried to run or do some other vigorous thing. All it takes in a big activity that can seem very small to normal standards but it is to much and the muscles in the chest end up in pain. When I was first seeing docs I had to tell them I was having chest pain tho I knew the first place they would go is cardiac. Since 2005 I have been worked up and rechecked by 4 different cardiologists over the years and they never found anything. By the end of the day now I have pain in the sides low every time I breath and last nite I had pain in my chest left but I know it was about the Hell I thru during the doc visit Tues. It always hits me worse the second day.
Early on it is do hard to know what are body is doing and why. This is the best place to learn. Doctors dont really have time to educate. I did go to the ER alot the first year and a half. One neuro told me it was important to be safe and go. Annie59 Quote:

Seems like it could be any of those drugs or none of them. Are you able to call your doctor and do a phone consult? My General Practioner lets me call in and if he thinks it's something more he'll have me come in or suggest I go my nuro. If you're unable to speak with a doctor, then I'd suggest urgent care (I find urgent care is less expensive than the emergency room depending on your insurance).
I had similar pains before I started taking Mestinon when I would walk too much or push myself, which at the time was not very much. It was a sharp pain that I could feel in my chest right between my boobs (sorry for the descirption), which I think was actually about the middle of my lung. The doctors didn't know why, but now when I reflect I think that muscle was cramping as a response to my activity. The bloody nose could also be from various things, but you should definatley get your blood pressure checked as someone else mentioned to make sure that's not causing it. At the very least something is aggrivating your system and it should be checked out. Note: if you are experiencing any diziness in conjunction with those symptoms, then you definately need to go to urgent care pronto (don't drive yourself). Take care. Quote:
