another reason to avoid transfats

Most of us know to avoid the frankenoil transfats already (and boy, do you have to really read those labels, I have actually seen products proclaiming in big letters "0 trans fats" right on the front, only to read thetiny ingredient list buried on the side and there is some hydrogenated oil of some kind. Truly deceptive. You'll notice, too, that those ingredient lists are getting smaller and smaller....it can't be just my eyes. I know I'm getting up there and the vision starts to go, but when my daughter has to squint to read the darn thing, well, something ain't right!

I read recently that transfats have been found IN THE BRAIN where "normal" fat used to be. These things are getting into the brain and shoving the healthy fats out of the way and taking up residence instead. The worst kind of squatter. Most importantly, they are being found around the myelin sheath which is vastly important for cell to cell communication. You can google to read more, but this awful process starts at birth as breastmilk fat has been found to contain as much as 7.2% transfats, courtesy of mom who probably had no idea.

All I can say is: go Whole Foods and local farmer's markets!

I believe that transfats below .5gram/serving can be advertised as ZERO. in USA.

But people do not know this, there are transfats in meat. They either get there naturally or unnaturally somehow.
