I think it stands for the American Association of Retired Persons, but I wouldn't know from personal experience, of course, lol!

Congratulations, Sal!!!

I keep looking to see if mine says "Wise Guy".

I joined early, only because my DH was invited, and spouses get in for free, even if they are way below the membership age. I see that AAA has as many benefits, but it was fun to get that card. I love their magazine each month too.

I see you hit 10k posts for NT and went for the double honor tho. way to go sal!

Sally-you are a wise@$$ and very Sane!! :D

Being older myself and eligible for AARP and if I start posting more maybe NT will bestow Wise Elder to me, or darn, think I'll go put it in my Siggy now!

We used to get 10% off of drinks at our pool-side bar in Hawaii when we showed our AARP card, but they discontinued it:(
What the he77 good does it do getting old if you can't get soused at a discount?;)

OK! I have to fess up here in light of Sally's great distinction.

I was receiving AARP application requests starting at 45 years old. I actually did join at at 50. Alas, things have not worked out as well as I would have liked with AARP. Just recently they said I had to reapply, but first must go through remedial elderly training because I wasn't sedentary, acquiescent, mild mannered, and maintaining a respectably quiet lifestyle and mental attitude.

My whole life has been nothing but remedial training. I swear God has sent me here a couple of times before. Geeez! You'd think I'd learn or they'd just give me a break!
