Skin cancer on my ear.

I went to the Dr. week before last and he froze this place on my ear and he is keeping an eye on it to see how I do. I know nothing about skin cancer due to only having all of the other ones in our family. Skin cancer and breast cancer are the only ones I have not seen in our family so I just didn't think the place might be skin cancer.

I have to say my biggest complaint is the weather and I have to mention it. It's been in the 70's here and tomorrow it is going to be in the 30's and raining. Here comes the pain. I often think what other state might be a better place but I guess I am too old to move.

Hi Ada

I have not had cancer in my family, feeling incredibly blessed! I dont have any advice to offer but wanted to send you a big hug for both your pain coming on and your new challenge.
I will keep you in my prayers for a better day!

Did your doctor say what kind of skin cancer it is?

The bad part of living in Arizona, besides the heat, is the sun. I just had my fourth basal cell skin cancer removed. Before RSD I was a mobile dog groomer and drove a lot. All my spots are on the left side of my body, indicative of someone who drove for a living. I'm bad about putting sunscreen on.

My in-laws are in Denver and that sounds like their weather. We're maintaining highs in the 70's and I hope it continues.

Pain free vibes coming your way from AZ....

Hi Nancy,

The snow missed us completely but it did turn off colder. I am starting to be in pain from the change. Denver and Colorado Springs got a snow yesterday. I am about 45 miles from the Springs. We often don't get it when they do.

hi ada,

someone else pointed out that you need to know what kind of skin cancer it is....the truly dangerous one is melanoma, but basal cell and even squamous cell are easy to treat WHEN CAUGHT EARLY.....i've had several basal cells removed (face, neck, back), and had no recurrence in the same spots.....it's about 25 years since i had the first one taken off which tells u that treatment is effective.

find out exactly what it was for your own peace of mind, but it was probably basal cell....they normally do minor surgery for the others.....hope you are doing reasonably well otherwise.

thanks Liz,

I changed my appt. to Friday I will ask him then. It sure hurts. He may have to freeze it some more.

I have a friend down home that lost his Dad and brother to skin cancer and he deals with it so I do know that it can be bad if it is a certain one.

I do need to know for my own peace of mine. I went through not knowing for 5 years before and don't won't to live through it again.

Thanks,
Ada

Hi,

i went to the Dermotologist yesterday about 2 places below my chin that wouldn't heal and one by my mouth that just started a few months ago. He biopsied the one by my mouth and I will know in a week or two what I am dealing with. He said it looked suspicious. I couldn't make another appt. because he said he wanted to see how to proceed next if it is cancer.

He is a good Dermotologist. I had been seeing his partner near home and I just decided to switch. He said we needed to get to the bottom of why the places won't heal on me.

I have been so tired lately. My oldest Grandson moved in with me. He graduates Jan. 11th so my kids didn't want to take him out of his school when they moved. He does good though. He's a joy to have around.

My daughter was my caregiver and since they moved about an hour away, Dustin's girlfriend got the job. I was happy about that.

Anyway, I'm sorry I don't get on here more to post. I do read everyday but about time I start to write one of the kids yell for me. Dustin has friends coming in and out all of the time too. He has about 10 more days of school left.
