Need help getting off oxy

Im here because I am looking for advice on how to detox from oxy.... I just started a new job and cannot enter into a detox. I take from 45 - 90 mgs daily and this has been going on for months now....

I was wondering if anyone viewing this may have had similar problems and how did you deal with the detox situation, especially if you wer employed....

off meds

I do have experience as I am going off morphine as we speak. I had a problem with oxy right after my surgery as I took alot after while healing, then resumed my morphine as I could not do it cold turkey. I am doing it with my pain management dr. He has dropped just 30 mgs a month, I was on 120mg of morphine a day. I do expreience sweating and chills. Not sure it is all due to the reduction of medication however. I do not feel bad. I reduse again on the 15th. I would go to the PM guy and get him to help you to step down. This seems to be working for me. ginnie

Hello

Glad you are trying to ease your medications down. I am being reduced with help from my pain physician. I have been taking morphine for 7 years. I don't think I could have done it without Drs help. Things are going just fine and I don't feel bad at all. Good luck to you. ginnie

Did they suggest Librium to you? My pain med doctor gave me Librium. I took it for 2 days before I figured out it is bad for people with RLS. I walked around the house for 48 hours, could not bear to even sit down. I quit the Librium and the RLS got better immediately, then I could sleep.

I now use Oxy (7.5mg) to stop my coughing when I have Bronchitis (I have COPD).

Good luck with it, my highest usage was around 90-120mg a day, plus Avinza. I forget how much Avinza I was on, but it was stopping my respiratory system (CCHS, VCD, COPD, etc.) and I had no choice.

Take care, Dave

hello and welcome to NT.

i had to do that with a med because a dr started me on it and i couldn't get off.
i too refused to go to the hosp to detox.

my pcp at the time Rx'd something to calm the anxiety and we started to decrease the dose over time. i came off the drug fine.

please contact your dr and enlist their help to do this and they'd have to be willing to stay in close contact with you.

Dear Teriteriteri,

I have read all the responses but I will tell you I don't agree with most of the responses. I have been throught it don't kid yourself you will need help with buephenorphine(suboxon) it worked miracles for me and only a certified pain specialist have certain rights to there licensed to give it out or in-patient detox. I was not even near the amounts I read and I tried at home to taper and it was a disaster. Find the right doctor. Working while trying to do this I don't have any experience. But even with the buephenorphine it took almost 4months for feel normal.

I don't mean to be so blunt but I have been there I have worked with many who have gone through the same thing. You have to do it safely, under a doctors care or it can be very dangerous.

I wish you the best. Don't make any rush decisions.
