Hip Hip Horray

:Dancing-Chilli: Well, all of my pants from last year are way too big to wear this year.

So, I went to local Goodwill store and bought 4 new outfits - I have lost 2!!!
sizes!

I;ve gone from a 16 to a 12 size pant!!!! I haven't seen a 12 in 20 years I bet.

Today, I decided to try to jog. I couldnt get my mind to figure it out all last week. More like a one step skip. Today I got 3 steps of a jog...then walk...then try the jog again...then walk....then try again.

Thats how they got me to relearn how to ride a bike last year in PT.

Im so EXCITED!!! I know it wont last...but it will help get me thru the next flareup....and Im getting skinny...and it helps make me breath deeper which helps strengthen my lung muscles...which are getting to be more problematic.

FUN ladies,...that is what life is about...with or without disease...

Just my little happy...

I am happy for you!!! :yahoo: Take all the celebrations you can get!

Congrats on the weight loss!!!! There's nothing that compares to that feeling of accomplishment when the zipper goes up easily on the smaller size!!:) In my "former life", I had gone from size 12 to size 6/8 and felt great! It was actually fun shopping for clothes. I'm 5'6" so felt wonderful. Of course now sitting in this stupid chair, everything has changed shape and "spread out" again.:( Keep up the good work! You Go Girl!!!

Sally -- You're such a riot! ROFLMAO!!!!!!

Thanks ya'all - I realize its all do to my new love - lil buddy who walks the **H** out of me.

I'm even way low hypothyroid at the moment so docs at med univ can see me at baseline.

There has been no weight loss - just a shift from fat to muscle...I suspect

I used to be a size 8 and then the fatigue slowed me up so much and then the walking and imbalance and then loss of job until I was just veggin away in my barcalounger.

I couldn't even fold my own panties without gross fatigue and pain. The MG will shut me down quick as a wink with repetitive jobs - so I really cant figure out how I am managing to continue to walk every 3 hours with this dog.

Except his enthusiasm sort of "forces" me out pass the fatigue.

He's had a real job this week - off the mestinon, synthroid dropped (4 wks ago) to practically nothing-off all meds except Blood pressure and seizure meds.

I'm up to sleeping 10 hrs a nite with 2 day naps.

SALLY: I loved to mail you my pants - but I havent quite convinced myself that this new figure is a long lasting one!! LOL Its probably only temporary -just a matter of time before I'll need those 16s again.

Otherwise I'd hand deliver them to you!

If I do "convince" myself this is a forever deal - I will gladly send you the pants-they are nice Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne, Jones of New YOrk etc. I almost hate not getting to wear them as I really loved them.

But I found 4 great outfits at Goodwill - anyone else shop at Goodwill??
2 brand new Liz Claiborne's with tags on them even (!)

I love Goodwill - our store is fabulous - all the nurses I worked with shop there and therapists etc.

Ive gotten gorgeous window curtains, rugs, pictures, comforters (top of the line type)

I also bought two adorable king size shams and stuffed it with foam stuff and it makes two perfect doggie mats. Even fits Buddy;s cage.

I love treasure hunting. They have wheelchairs at store and they even let me take Buddy with me. LOL.

I just am in a daze as to how "dramatically" the exercise has improved my life. I always heard Montel telling us MSer to get up and walk...then they sent me to PT last year and proved again to me that exercise will help dramatically.

It was pure agony the 1st time I had to get on the bike. Two cycles of the wheel and I was done with excersing for the day!! LOL. By the 9th week I was up to 5 miles of cycling. And, I felt great. But could not sustain the effort of going 3 times a week.

I used to be an athlete in swimming, track and gymnastics - very competitive.

Or, once the flare up set in I was done with PT for 2 months. Really hard to keep the momentum up during those flare ups.

This time around - I am a BELIEVER in all those who keep telling us to MOVE - WALK etc. I used to look at them and think "Are you crazy! WHat part of this fatigue/paralysis do you not understand!!!"

Exercise IS good!!!

Found the best (lol) "diet"

Growing up I was an athlete & no matter what else was going on in my life I was alway on the go. There were times that I was so skinny the doctors were worried.

After my first really serious MS attack I COULD NOT participate in sports & such anymore & the weight packed on. Tried just about every diet would lose a few pounds & gain it back.

About 11 1/2 months ago I started having MS related swallowing problems. This seriously curtailed what I could eat & how much I could eat often I CANNOT EAT AT ALL & am limited to liquids. When this first started I was at my highest weight ever; today I am MORE THAN 80 POUNDS LESS than I was just under a year ago. The BAD PART is that comfort food was a big coping mechanism for me now I have no appetite & what I do eat USUALLY DOES NOT taste "right" because my tongue is numb.

I guess you could say (tongue in cheeks) that this is one of the MS symptoms that is a perk!

That's so true! :) I've learned (sort of the hard way) to thoroughly chew my food....slowly......and take my time eating. What's my hurry anyway??

The only time it's very obvious that I've changed my eating habits is when I go out....especially with my sons. They eat like someone is standing behind them waiting to grab their plate! :D They're finishing up and I'm just getting started. My oldest son is trying hard to break this habit. He's in law enforcement and early on he learned that if he wanted to get his entire meal he had to eat it quick before another call came in!
