Ultrasound

I had thumb arthroplasty done and in general things are going fine. I was having a lot of strong neurological sensations along the scar line. I started OT and they did ultrasound treatments to help the soft tissue heal. Interestingly, the neuro symptoms went WAY down. I wonder if ultrasound was ever considered for PN? Just a thought.

Sometimes--

--ultrasound treatments can be ehlpful when the prime neurological symptoms are compressive; anything that will reduce inflammation and increase the space tissue has to move freely would help in symptom reduction (a lot of treaments from Anodyne to surgical decompression are justified along similar theoretical lines).

I had ultrasound for several weeks when I pulled my adductor tendons in my left leg (from a fall). It was soooooo painful...and I couldn't move my leg at all. I also had IFc with it, both on the same day, and within 2 treatments my pain receded an amazing amount.

My PT mixed Biofreeze with the lubricant 1:1, and turned up the volume which never hurt at all.

I think ultrasound is very good for tissue damage...inflammation as Glenn suggests.

I was very pleased at the pain relief I experienced with my PT treatments!

Ultrasound really works on this prickling nerve sensation.....you really couldn't do it for a large area, but, wow, on this small area.....it is sensational. I have more issues then my house has dustballs, I could go in twice per week and rotate from site to site.

Had it on my lower back; lubricant mixed with Biofreeze. It really did help with tight cramping muscles.

They used ultrasound on my bursitis, and it helped....on my torn rotator cuffs, and it was fabulous....(also used a new kind of electropheresis as well). I walk into the clinic in pain and leave with the pain gone....too bad it can't be body wide....I would need about 5 areas treated simultaneously.
