Root Canal and Extraction with RSD
I went to the dentist today and was told not only do I need a root canal, I also need to have one tooth pulled (the root canal would be too difficult, and it would only save the tooth for a few years). I have had RSD in my right foot for two years now.
I went to the dentist for a simple filling replacement about six months ago. It was pure agony. My face swole up, and my pain skyrocketed for about two weeks. I do not think it is safe to have either the root canal or extraction, but I have to don something at this point. I am terrified that the RSD will spread to my face. On top of that, I have called about a hundred dentist (endodontist, oral surgeons) and NONE of them will take me as a patient. I need to do something. Please help. |
I placed a copy of your post on our RSD forum also, maybe some there will have ideas & help for you.

Hi lillizziem,
Your concerns about the RSD are definitely valid because we never know what will trigger it and where it will end up. However, an infected tooth is very taxing on the immune system because of the chronic inflammation and it will get worse. Having a root canal does not eliminate the infection entirely, so the inflammation would still be present. Removing the tooth would eliminate the infection. I often refer people to the IAOMT organization to locate a dentist who belongs to that group. It is a worldwide organization of physicians, dentists, pathologists, etc who understand the whole body connection. Have you heard of them before? Bryanna Quote:

Thank you,
Bryanna I checked out that web site for IAOMT and I found a couple of dentist in my area, and one of them will actually bill my insurance. (Thank goodness since the RSD has left me practicallly broke. My insurance company will not cover anything for a year since it is a pre-exisiting conditon). But this was a live saver. Thank you!!! |
Oh lillizziem...... that's terrific!!
Please let us know how you are doing =)) Bryanna Quote:
