Aseptic meningitis. A
 

Well- I'm in the hospital with aseptic meningitis. I woke uP with the most horrifying headache I have ever endured. I'm not sure I would even classify it as a headache. They've been giving me morphine and torodal and 4 ml of fluids an hour. The lumbar puncture they did was horrible he hit my spine 3 times and now it's the only pain I feel. The headache is gone- but flu like symptoms are still here.

Haha i Was toasting at thanksgiving dinner the other night about how I haven't been to the hospital for a few months and then the next morning I wake up and head to the ER. Oh well:)


And I was supposed to fly back to school today, but need to reschedule obv. Because I haven't ate in 2 days- and puke everything upp. Urg!

Oh my gosh!! I am so sorry you have this! How long will you be in hospital - - and how is the MG handling the infection?

I'm sorry, Tyson, that you are again in the clutches of bacteria. It's so hard to be immunosuppressed and then be around so many people in college. I remember getting sick so often. After college, I hardly ever got sick.

I hope you will get out of there soon and be on the mend.

This is a known side effect of IVIG, in patients with neurological diseases. and probably occurs more in the lyophilized forms (those that come as powder and have to be reconstituted) then in the liquid forms. (there is some data to suggest that in the medical literature).

so, may require changing the type of IVIG you are recieving.

I am checking in because I got a meningeal head-neck ache after my 6th IVIG treatment for MG. The headache is mild but has lasted 3 weeks. They though I would not have trouble so they did the infusions at full speed at home. Now I think they should do it slowly with lots of hydration from now on. I didn't realize it could get as bad as you got it. Boy, I want to stay out of hospitals. I was in one and a nursing home for 2.5 months. I think I know more than the doctors by now. I wish you the best. Don't be afraid to ask critical questions and keep them on their toes. Get them to take their time talking to you and giving you all the details. I got a new laptop in the hospital and began to read the medical literature. It really helped.

Note: "aseptic" means without a discernible infection. Meningitis is an inflammation of the meninges, three membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord.
