Its been quite awhile but wanted to update...
I haven't checked in with you all since the end of January. Its been a crazy 10 months, but the bright side is we have landed on our feet. It was a long battle with w/c. However, in August, the judge ruled in our favor, forcing w/c company to accept rsd as an accepted condition resulting from his on the job injury. The scs has been successful for him (we had to do this thru private insurance that we had thru paying the high cobra payments, since w/c denied it was related). The SCS does not eliminate all pain, but has allowed him, with quite a fight, to get back in his truck and drive and to be drug free. He recently was able to go back to work, 2.5 years after his accident. We have lost our house, and one of our vehicles, while fighting w/c and getting my husband the treatment he needed, however we (my husband, myself 4 kids and the basset hound:) are happy to be standing on our feet. Makes you realize what truly is important in life. The best to you all... RSDWIFE

I am glad that you have something to be thankful for this holiday season. |
Hi. I am sorry for all your struggles. I hope 2011 brings easier times. You have a good outlook and I think that helps.

I am really glad that your husband found a treatment that works for him and allowed him to return to work. I truly hope that your family will eventually recoup some of its losses from the time he was unemployed. I'm so sorry for what you all suffered.
WC is just an evil system. I am also a vistim of WC - the Hartford has almost made me totally nuts on a number of occasions. I am back to work after a year's LOA and many different treatments, ketamine was the answer for me. I tried just about everything else, though, first. You are an inspiration to all of us!! I sincerely hope you have a wonderful holiday season!! XOXOX Sandy Quote:

Grats! What state is his w/c from? My husbands is through Ohio, we were truck drivers as well and he was injured on the job. They fully accept the rsd is from the injury with no problem, however they want us to go from mid michigan to ohio to get his stimulator implant. Hearing how much it has helped your husband gives us some hope :)

We are in Oregon. There is a great sports clinic here, where my husband received his trail and permanent implant. Its amazing that the surgery was at 8 am and he was home by 1:30. I hope your husband has success with it. Has he had the trial yet? My husband is still hurting by the end of the day, but no comparison to not having his scs. He is so grateful to be back in his truck (he's been a mixer driver for 12+ years and can't imagine doing anything else).
