What is your Tree Topper?

For those of you who put up a Christmas Tree aka. Pagan fertility symbol. lol, what do you top it with?

I grew up with a star on our tree, my parents got one for their first Christmas, now 50 years later, it has been glued, repaired but still is there.

When Laura and I got married, she wanted an angel, so we did, and it topped our tree each year until last year, when we opened our box we had put a candle in the same box as the angel and in the AZ heat, being in the attic it was history. we went without a tree topper last year but it looks naked without it, so we are going out tonight to find a cheap one. I want a star, she wants an angel, she will probably win, but it got me to think to start this poll.

Why not a star with an angel in front of it?

I've had this one for maybe 35 years.

I love love love that, I wonder how I could find one. I checked Berean Christian stores but they don't have anything I like. (for whatever it's worth, the Christian store only has stars for tree toppers, Hm.... wonder why)

It would be pretty easy to make one, for somebody a little bit crafty.

The first Christmas I was married my mother gave us this beautiful angel for the top of our tree. 18 years later we're still using it. Every time we place on top of the tree I have all these warm and loving memories flooding back of our past Christmases and of my mom.

I have an Angel I've used for 40 years, since DD was born, but I also have a star that I used on another tree. I'm just using the angel this year (if I can get it taped back together):D

I have a Teddy bear angel, made from a kit about 15 years ago. There are matching ornaments too.

Um, Earl?

Some of us ARE pagan.

We used to have an angel, however the lights burned out @5 years ago and we just haven't replaced it.......not sure why?

Our fake tree is about 6" below the ceiling at the top, so when DH strings the lights, he makes sure there is one white light at the top...it looks like a star on the ceiling when lit...

We have an angel. Mum and dad were given it when I was born (almost 16 years ago). It's funny as our parrots cage is near where we usually put the Christmas tree and he always sits and talks to the parrot as though he's wanting to hook up with her, lol!

Hope you all have a great Christmas :)!

Earl, I made the mistake of falling in love with the display at an interior decorator store! Once they agreed to give me 50% off of everything (was currently 40% discounted) I went crazy.

So I ended up with a completely differently look this year with my fake tree. There are lots of flower "picks" that I just laid across the branches and left the pretty parts exposed. Some pomegranites that are cracked in half to expose the seeds. Fake pheasant feathers and grasses sticking out everywhere. Also some huge mottled orange blown glass oranaments. (You would like them, Earl! :))

So instead of an angel or star, I've got these weird brown grasses and pheasant feathers sticking out of the top like a teepee's support poles.

It looked great in the store, but I'm a little disappointed now that its in my living room. *sigh* I spent too much money on it and don't know what to do. :o Thinking about donating it to the Parade of Trees next year so I can start fresh, lol!!!

BTW, I asked my 12yo grandson what he thought of my new tree. He pondered for a moment and said, "It looks like a Thanksgiving tree!" LOLOL!

My tree, so far, is unadorned (lots of clear white lights), this year and may remain so.....or not.:D

Twink, your tree sounds adorable.:p

I couldn't really vote, because we have a star and an angel that we just switch off each year. Geesh, I'm feeling kinda wishy washy, cuz I like both :o.
The way stars look, with Christmas lights reflecting off of them, are probably my favorite if I were buying a new topper. The angel we have is one that I've had since the kids were little, made of rafia. We also have one my daughter made in kindergarten some 25 yrs ago, so it has special meaning as well...

We have a beautiful angle with a long red velvet dress that has white faux fur trim around the neck, wrists and bottom. With big white wings made of feathers and a hat to match her dress. She barely fits between the top of our fake tree and the ceiling but we couldn't pass her up. We have had her since our first Christmas together, which was also our daughter's first Christmas. So we've had it for 6 years now. It seems like one that will hold up for a long time.

We always had a star with about six different colored lights on it growing up. I'm not sure what happened to it, but I love the one we have just as much as I loved that star!
