17 daydiet..

I've ordered the book and their exercise CD...it interested me because it is supposed to help get you "unstuck" from those plataus (sp?) I lost 30 lbs and decided to just maintain that for awhile as a life style. In no time at all I had put on 5 pounds! Took some of that off in two weeks and then along came Thanksgiving...put on 4 more lbs!

If I understand this diet correctly, it "fools" your matabolism by changing what you can eat every 17 days. And you do their 17 mins of exercise every day. We shall see...............

Alffe, two talk shows have already featured this book and it got my interest, too. I hope you'll post what you think of it once you've read it. If I get any $$ for Christmas this year I might just order it myself! It sounds easy enough to do......and like you, I have stalled at the 48 pound mark. I'm comfortable with this weight loss but would really love to take about 10 more pounds off. It was so easy during the summer when all the fruits and veggies I love so much are in season. Winter veggies are not my favorite.

congratulations to both of you!
good luck in getting "unstuck"
You are going to wait until after the new year?
Who can diet around the holidays?

In my freezer...I have a pecan pie, a chocolate fudge brownie square and a half gallon of ice cream all un eaten from thanksgiving that I am going to give to my friend she has 2 growing boys!

Biz, I'm going to read the book as soon as it comes and will probably begin right away but will eat on Christmas and gain weight like I did on Thanksg. :D Plus we are traveling alot which always makes dieting hard but have a colonoscopy in my future and we all know what that is about...

This morning I am back down to where I was...have lost 30 pounds...some of them over and over again. *grin

Kitty...I am so impressed!!!

I haven't been as diligent as I was this past summer. Partly because it's just easier to eat salad and "cold" food in the summer. In the winter I want hot stuff......bread and pizza and soups. But, I've noticed that when I do eat I don't overdo it. In fact, I can no longer eat an entire sandwich in one sitting. I used to be able to gobble one down and still have room for more. :o So, I'm staying at my current weight loss and not gaining but not losing, either. Which just proves to me that I can eat relatively "normal" food as long as I control the portion size.

Alffe, I'm anxious to know what you think about the book. Maybe our library will have a copy. I've got three more books to read from them before I return them and place an order for another bundle to be sent to me. I'm going to ask them if they have this one and get myself on the waiting list if there is one. :)

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Have you heard of the latest fitness phenomenon that has folks working out like crazy six times a week? It's called P90X, and it's one of the top 5 fitness DVDs on amazon.com. The program, which some users consider to be more like a newfound religion, employs lifting weights using a technique called muscle confusion. This involves switching-up resistance training exercises so your body doesn't become accustomed to the same repetitive movements every time you work out. If your body adapts too well to your workouts, the theory goes, it won't build muscle as efficiently as when it's faced with unpredictable movements. Hence, the confusion

Makes me wonder if these, diet and this one, are "fads" or do they really work?

The founder of the 17 Day Diet says that's what makes his formula work. Your body doesn't have time to get accustomed to it and the constant change is why it's effective.

Stands to reason, though, because I noticed that when I hit a plateau (usually after losing 20-25 pounds) if I'd just take one day and eat whatever I wanted that usually "jump started" the losing process again.

Makes sense to me that it would work for exercise, too. I wonder if I could do the exercises? My balance is terrible. I'm going to check it out, though. I need to exercise but just haven't found what works for me yet. :)

I haven't heard of the 17 day diet... hmmm... going to have to look into that...

I do have the 6 week body makeover kit. I got it a few days before I was injured. I looked through it after I was injured, while my foot was in the boot cast... I decided to wait until my foot had healed because I couldn't do the exercises.

It's still in the box... under my bed... I still can't do the exercises... It's 7+ years later. :o

I would love to try the P90X!!!! It reminds me so much of the martial arts training from my past. It's on my bucket list of something I want to do.

 <----daydreaming me...

Ok...I'm reading this book and am on day two of the first 17 day regimen.
I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Green tea isn't as awful as I expected it to be...thank goodness because you drink a lot of it. And you eat fruit twice a day and a container of yogurt twice a day. LOTS of fish, chicken..they say "eat PLENTY of fish..or chicken" not comfortable with what plenty means...I'll know more in a week or so ...we'll see what the scale says. I am not recommending this yet.

The exercise CD.....well let's just say that I'm too old to behave that way. :D My balance isn't all that great when marching in place let alone lunging!

I also sent away for something that appeared on yahoo this morning...free trial offer of South Beach Java and Lean Spa w/Acai. It made incredible claims....:o

I just really needed to try something new...am sick of counting grams of carbo.
