Foot numbness
Hello folks. About three weeks ago my right foot went numb. It's mainly in my toes and doesn't really limit me in any way--yet. I am in no pain and it's mainly just a distraction. It gets worse when I sit for a long time and gets better when I am more active, but the numbness never goes away. I am not diabetic though my A1C is at the upper end of the normal range. I do have some discomfort in my outside thigh area sometimes--I believe this is my sciatic nerve. I'm 51 years old, male, and in good health. I'm 6'2'' and weigh 200 lbs and my blood pressure is 120/80. The only med I take is a synthroid once a day. (100 MCG) I don't drink or smoke. I am not currently insured and am hesitant about going to the doctor because he will probably will want to order expensive tests. I'm hoping to get some feedback from you people that might shed some light on what's going on with me. Thanks in advance for your input.

Welcome to NeuroTalk.
I found a dermatome map on the net, which shows the areas innervated by L4 and L5... Notice the lateral side of the leg, and the different toe distribution. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...1t:429,r:0,s:0 It might be coming from your back, so I'd get an evaluation from your doctor, for that. |
Thanks VERY much for your input. I think I know why my foot is numb now!
