Metanx
Anyone have good results taking Metanx? Doc prescribed that for me to see if it might help me? Skin test came out in the normal range with a slight change in the calf area (not enough it call it small fiber, though).

I have never heard of Metanx. Are you on any neuro drug now? |
Metanx will only work if you are low in the 3 vitamins it contains.
If you are not deficient, it won't do much. Make sure you are getting the brand name, because the generics out there do not contain the exact same ingredients! |
That was my first skin test ever. It was three months after I started feeling the PN symptoms coming back. It seems to be slowly progressing since then. Pretty scary. I am on Neurontin- 1200 mgs. a day. It helps some with the shooting pain but not with the hypersensitivity to touch (allodynia).
I actually think my symptoms are originally caused by an adverse reaction to Skelaxin (a CNS depressant prescribed for neck pain) back in 2002. It caused a hallucination and a long seizure that nobody was able to stop (because I was by myself at the time). I think it damaged some nerves. That is why I am not so concerned about finding a cause because I really think that it what did it. Drugs reactions can be so awful! I did report this to the FDA. I'm still going to be checked for diabetes soon, though. Metanx is a prescription vitamin supplement. Apparently, it may take up to 4 months to take effect. |
