SSDI and moving.

Perhaps some one can answer this question? Does moving to another state affect your SSDI or medicare?

I wouldn't think it would. I mean, you're still disabled at the new residence.....the only thing that changed was your address. Maybe try posting the same question on the Social Security forum as well. You might get more responses.

I moved from one state to another and it didnt change one bit. You must tell the SS office where you currently live where you are going, you can do so by phone, and then you must tell the SS office where you are going that you are there. past that...its all good.

i moved from CO to FL and my ssdi didn't change. like dej said, you do have to do all the notifications for change of address. and, i had to set up a new bank acct because i have the check wired into the bank.

it might change medicare a bit. my monthly cost actually went down a bit.
once you notify them you'll get your new rate. i even did all my notifications before i left CO so it would all be set up in advance.

except, you can only change the bank when you move because it has to be done in person.

Any Medicare Supplement, D, will change since they are specific to where you live, but the SSDI will stay the same.

Enjoy your new place.

Thanks all, planning for the future so there are no foul ups!

On a similar thing, I am switching my Blue Cross/Shield Medicare to an HD plan for next year. No Premium, some Dental, same drugs, same Doctors, just a $1450 deductible. Will save, $1704 in premiums.

Are you near Lodi?

I'm on SSDI and moved a few years ago to a different state. All that I had to do was give the social security office my new address. My payments weren't affected a bit. :)

Yes Bill, about 10 miles north of the center of town in Lodi and 4 houses west of rte 83. My youngest daughter attends college in Wooster, and a lady friend also lives in Wooster, so I pass through it all the time.
